Wait… you can make glass flowers in your freezer? 🧊🌸
Yes. Powdered glass + water + silicone molds + a kiln = these beauties. Add mica and they shimmer.
@alexfreschglass and I are teaching this — and at @handsonglassstudio in Corning, NY (June 8–10) we’re taking it even further, incorporating freeze and fuse elements into furnace glass. It’s going to be something special.
Spots are open — link in bio. ✨ Follow along to see these flowers transformed into a mosaic that will be on view at the Rakow library as part of the @americanmosaics and @sgaa_hq “100 Moments” exhibition during the @glassartsociety conference.

Announcing the 2027 class schedule ❣️ Here’s where you can find me teaching, both solo and with @alexfreschglass. We’re focusing mainly on freeze and fuse and freeze casting, along with fused glass and torchwork. Our longer intensives include some extra fun powder techniques and mold making. Hope to see you in 2027! #glassclass #workshops #freezeandfuse #glassart by @calyxann

Revisiting runway dreams from the Glass Fashion Show at Corning. The show’s grown so popular that Laura Donefer juried artists in this year — she’s built such a uniquely immersive way for us to exhibit our work and walk for our peers. I’d love to see these costumes in a standalone exhibition someday. 🪩 ✨ 🤩 #fashionart #fashionshow #glassfashionshow #artcurator by @calyxann

Introducing a work of art for the community, by the community.

Over the course of IFoG 2026, residents of St Helens teamed up with members of the global glass art community to create this mosaic, a celebration of the town’s rich glass history. On 1 November, it was unveiled in its permanent home outside the World of Glass.

The project was led by Carrie Ann Strope, a glass artist and educator from Lincoln, Nebraska, whose work centers on collaborative, community-built mosaics.

More than 40 artists each contributed a small piece to the design. Carrie’s website (see link in bio) includes a full list of the artists and an interactive “map” showing where each artist’s contribution can be found on the piece.

Thank you to Bullseye and Warm Glass UK for providing the glass, and to everyone who added a piece.

Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

From the private viewing on 27 August to the closing celebration and mosaic unveiling on 1 November, St Helens showed up for glass. Thank you to every artist, presenter, volunteer, and visitor who made this festival what it was.

Huge thanks to our hosts, The World of Glass and Manchester Metropolitan University, and to our sponsors Glasma and Paul Wissmach Glass Co. Thank you also to our artist award sponsors: Glass Sellers Charity, the British Society of Master Glass Painters & The Worshipful Company of Glaziers, the Guild of Glass Engravers, The Glass Society, Warm Glass, and Bullseye Glass.

Where in the UK will IFOG 2028 land? Watch for the announcement in Spring 2027. 👀

Belated Halloween, dearies. 🎃 The witches were busy at the cauldron.
Deep in the Harz mountains, in the town of Derenburg, there lives a witch. Her face is the emblem of the whole district, and she watches over the glassworks of @glasmanufaktur_harzkristall. So when two glass witches came to visit during our residency with @kulturkollektiv.goetheschule, we knew we had to make her something fine.
We blew the hat in the hot shop, dressed up with freeze cast charms, brewed with Reichenbach glass colors and inspired by the forest witch herself. She approved. Our Hexenhut now rests where it belongs, at Harzkristall. 🧙‍♀️
The Black Magic of Casting is coming to a hearth near you this new year. If your studio would like to host our spells, send us a raven (or a DM) and we’ll conjure a class together.
And tell us, wanderer: what would you cast onto your own witch’s hat?
Our thanks to @kulturkollektiv.goetheschule for opening the door to the mountain, and to @glasma_sweden, @reichenbachcolors and @olympiccolors for the glass that is part of this tale.

Every succulent starts with a gradient. This weekend I’m testing @oceansideglass powder blends so we can mix natural-looking greens together in class. Join us at FuseFest 2027 at @tryonartsandcrafts in February, and learn to build the colors yourself. Seats are limited for this 3 hour class in color mixing. #freezeandfuse #glassclass #fusedglass #workshop #glassplants by @calyxann
