YEAR OF THE MONTH 2002 😱📼 @vernabackbar

Couple things here…

1. My friends are very good sports and yes @kathryntavares was hired for her hair.

2. I saw The Ring in a fully packed theater in downtown Seattle with @antgeneral when we were seniors in high school. We were so freaked out after that he not only spent the night at my house, we slept in the same bed. 👯‍♂️

3. The music from 2002 is insanely fun so come hang and drink and try to win at our impossible trivia. by @cambrousseau

2002 was all in the game of love, baby! ❤️‍🔥

MUSIC: If you weren’t being produced by Pharrell & The Neptunes, what the hell were you even doing here? Nu-Metal began its slow ugly death. Pop Punk was peaking while its moody younger brother Emo got its license. JT went solo and killed all boybands. The new crop of pop country sprouted up, but Nelly, Luda, and Eminem reigned over all.

MOVIES: The year of the Part II! Star Wars, Harry Potter, Men in Black, and Lord of the Rings all released their second chapters to varying degrees of success. Spielberg dropped back to back bangers. Mel Gibson found Jesus in a corn field, while Samara the pale wet haired ghost single handedly ended the VHS era. Oh, and Michael Myers fought Busta Rhymes!

Introducing YEAR OF THE MONTH! Because every year deserves a second chance! ⏳👀

Beginning Friday May 8th, I’ll be hosting a monthly event at @vernabackbar celebrating the music & movies from ONE specific year. New month, new year.

So who’s up first? 1996!

We’re talking four hours of nostalgic tunes plus VHS films playing around the bar. Ultimate nostalgia trips for everyone, regardless of when you were born. taken in Verna Café & Bar by @cambrousseau
