Who would’ve ever thought that a high school program called SMASH could lead to a full-ride scholarship to one of the most prestigious HBCUs in the world, Morehouse College? Dear Morehouse, I thank you for all of the wonderful people I’ve met over these four years, whom I consider mentors and brothers. Morehouse has cultivated me into the young Black man that I am today: strong, intelligent, ambitious, and a leader. But before Morehouse, I have to thank my family for being my backbone and support system. It took a lot of cousins, uncles, aunts, godparents, grandparents, family friends, mentors—it took a village to build this legacy of being Cameron R. Cooper. I would love to thank my high school and Morehouse brothers who continued to inspire me to do my best and keep going when I wanted to quit. I love y’all, and I thank y’all for embarking with me on this journey. This is just the beginning of a new chapter with many more to come in my story.
