Hello from Brazil, Spartans! 🇧🇷

Dr. Lourenco is in Brazil, where they’re holding a presidential election today! Elections in Brazil are similar to ours in the United States, but there are some interesting differences. It’s so interesting to learn how other countries do things!

Fun fact: Dr. Lourenco filmed this video right in front of the high school she attended!

Thanks for sharing a little bit of beautiful Brazil with us, Dr. Lourenco!

ADA Alt Text: Video of Dr. Lourenco standing outside the high school she attended in Brazil. She is wearing sunglasses and a gray T-shirt with a queen playing-card design. She greets the Camelback community and shares facts about Brazil’s presidential election. The school building and people walking in the background are visible behind her. by @camelbacklibrarian

Banned Books Week takes place from October 4–10, 2026, with the official theme “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.” Award-winning authors and free expression advocates Bess Kalb (Buffalo Fluffalo series) and Tony Weaver, Jr. (Weirdo), have been named honorary chairs for Banned Books Week 2026 (October 4–10, 2026). They will be joined by youth honorary chairs Marshall Romero and Azeemah Sadiq. The American Library Association tracked 4,235 unique book titles challenged in the U.S. during the previous year, with thousands of individual restrictions or bans initiated largely by organized pressure groups. taken in Camelback High School by @camelbacklibrarian
