Spanning 8 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, Cohort 17 reflects our continued commitment to investing deeply in historically overlooked founders—including a $50,000 investment per Fellow—because when founders are fully resourced, entire communities benefit.

At Camelback, our work has never stopped at funding. Capital is only one piece of the journey, and we're committed to opening doors, expanding networks, and creating opportunities for our Fellows to build the relationships that help their ventures grow and sustain.

During Essence Fest weekend, we partnered with Maroon and Startup Noir NOLA (Greater New Orleans, Inc. – GNO, Inc. initiative), to bring together funders, investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders committed to strengthening pathways for historically overlooked entrepreneurs.

The evening featured a fireside conversation with our CEO Shawna Young, joined by Salem Habte of Startup Noir NOLA and Ryan Bates of Bates Development, exploring what it takes to create stronger ecosystems of support — followed by pitches from three New Orleans-based Camelback Fellows building bold solutions in the communities they call home.

Because when founders have access to the right rooms, resources, and communities — they don't just scale ventures; they build a new blueprint for entrepreneurship.

Last year at the Global Economic Forum during Essence Festival, our CEO, Shawna Young, sat on a panel that reflected on the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the enduring resilience of New Orleans.

New Orleans is where Camelback Ventures was founded, and it remains a place where we intentionally invest, convene, and build alongside visionary leaders. It’s why Guardian Summit calls this city home.
