Agnes asks William to tell her a story when he struggles to express his feelings in words. He tells her the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, of Orpheus, whose music was so beautiful it moved even Hades.
That is exactly how the film made me feel. As though it is worth living simply to experience and appreciate such art and how fortunate I am to witness it.
It filled me with a great, sweet sadness and left something within me that will live there forever. I watched the film three times on the big screen and would watch it again without hesitation. I couldn’t help but share my feelings.
William made me mourn a son I never had , one who was not mine and yet the grief felt real. The love of a parent is truly greater than anything.
