Beach

Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach is an urban, golden-sand beach and outdoor bathing area in Reykjavík, Iceland, located about 3 km southwest of the city center near Reykjavík University and the Domestic Airport.

Features and Facilities

• Geothermal Lagoon: Seawalls enclose a coastal cove where cold North Atlantic seawater mixes with pumped geothermal water, keeping summer lagoon temperatures around 15°C to 19°C (59°F–66°F).
• Hot Tubs & Steam Bath: Outdoor geothermal hot tubs (maintaining around 38°C–39°C / 100°F–102°F) and a steam room are open year-round.
• Golden Sand: Imported pale-gold sand covers the shore, creating a traditional beach atmosphere.
• Service Center: Includes changing rooms, showers, restrooms, and a snack bar. Equipment rentals for towels and swimwear are also available.

Hours & Admission

• Summer Season (May 15 – August 18): Open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 with free admission.
• Winter Season (August 19 – May 14): Open Tuesday–Friday from 11:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 11:00 to 16:00 (closed Monday and Sunday). Winter admission is approximately 895 ISK for adults (children under 18 enter free).

• Walking / Cycling: About a 30–45 minute walk or a scenic bike ride along the coastal path from downtown Reykjavík.
• Bus: Take Strætó city bus Route 5 or 8 to the Nauthóll–HR stop and walk a few minutes downhill.
• Driving: Roughly a 10-minute drive from the city center with free on-site parking available. by @cameraperson_01
