Princess ladybug baby Sydney chicken face was born 20 years ago today! This year she survived a lot. She is the strongest, most lovely, and prettiest, she is smart, kind, and the most funny lady baby ever. I love you Syd, may this year be the best most beautiful yet, and better every year after. by @cameron_dezen_hammon

Went to Edinburgh solo my last week in Europe and ate and drank and saw so many good things. Looked for the ghosts ancestral and literary and found good food and nice people. No ghosts but maybe next time. Two weeks in NYC with Syd, and now back to Houston ♥️

we have been through it but let me just say mothers keep the world turning
thank you to mine and to yours whoever she may be (she might not be your bio mother but you know who she/he/they are)

We survived 3 brain surgeries and a month in the hospital and were mothered in many ways
By the nurses doctors therapists integrative health specialists music therapist transportation food service staff cleaning staff night staff day staff that lady i met in the surgery waiting area the cafeteria workers and pharmacists the gift shop lady who had the same filter in her lung to every single person who looked into my daughter’s room in ICU & prayed & told us she was going to be okay thank you you were right

I have also learned that the strength i’ve been building and tending to in my own body carried me through 4 weeks of acute physical and emotional stress
I feel really grateful for that

to everyone who told me to eat, who sent food, who checked on us, who told me to take my meds you know who you are
You mothered us thank you
Thank you to my mother who mothers me still i love you
To my baby who is the best person I’ve ever met thank you for making me a mother

Whoever has asked another person if they are hungry and fed that person thank you we are all still here because of you 💐

feeling so good we played with puppies and saw the ocean took a bus and a train got a 10k medical bill but who cares money isn’t real she’s strong and healthy and medicine is a miracle 🪄

soul healing visit with oldest friend @simlevin who I love more than I can say and who loves my kid and fed us and made us laugh I love you Simona

laughed and ate like queens with @alexdezen who took such good care of us and has been unbelievably supportive through this whole brain surgery journey love you brother bear

It felt good to write about it

Her favorite book was in the waiting area when she was in surgery #3

Last day in the hospital first days home. We are so grateful we could explode. Grateful for real ones you know who you are and for modern medicine and timing that couldn’t have been better for things that were terrible. We are the luckiest.
