A section of a handrail to a 1:2 scale Site : Ørestad Copenhagen gymnasium Summary Group 2 : Charlene, Cami, Pryia 1:2 Material - timber In the beginning we took a section of the spiral staircase Copenhagen, after discussion we’ve decided to focus specifically on the handrail of the staircase. Analysing and writing down measurements we began to make our draft (dirty model) in a 1:2 scale out of cardboard. Building the draft model it helped us visualise the specifics in making the final model out of ash wood. To create the final model the materials we used are ash timber, stainless steel metal, and foam. Measuring and outlining the dimensions before cutting them using a band saw and sanding it down with a bobbing sander to help create the curve effect of the handrail. The part we found most difficult was forming the wood into a curve using a wood press but managed to succeed. After we individually cut the pieces, as a group we came together and started to help each other to stick all pieces together using mainly epoxy resin and PVA glue @bcu_interiorarchanddesign #interiordesign #modelmaking #workshop #groupproject by @camiicreative
