New additions to collection, thanks to my friend @webersurplus !

Timor Leste "digital lizard" pattern combat shirt, Timor Leste Border Police cold weather parka, and Cambodian 246 Bodyguard Headquarters spot pattern camouflage trousers. For those scratching their heads and asking why you would want a heavy jacket in East Timor, that border with Indonesia has some very rugged, mountainous terrain and it apparently gets cold in the upper altitudes at night! by @camopedia

FRAUD WARNING: On Mar 16th I completed a purchase agreement with an individual using the name Jerzey Stary for several Russian uniforms he had listed on FB Marketplace and paid him via PP F&F. The total was nearly USD $400. These items were to be dispatched quickly, and within a few days I received notification that a label had been created with the Canada Post. Since that time there has been no movement whatsoever on the package (there is only an indication that a label was created; the package itself is not even recorded as within the system). I have made numerous attempts to contact Jerzey Stary, which have gone ignored. I have also contacted the Paypal receipient (Alfred Denning) that received my money and those messages have been ignored. At this point it seems altogether obvious this is a case of fraud. I wanted to make people in this group aware of this, as there are still two items listed on Marketplace from this individual. Unfortunately I foolishly paid using Friends and Family so will probably not be able to recover my funds, but I will let as many people know as possible so they can avoid getting caught in scams like this in the future. I had considered posting this sad situation on the Camopedia website itself, but have decided against that so as not to taint the site itself with personal issues.

Another updated traditional design, this time for Zambia. Announcement was made in January 2025, but they are still in the process of integrating as there are plenty of military personnel still wearing the old semi-arid design. by @camopedia

The Ministry of National Defense of Benin made an announcement on 1 August 2025 that the Armed Forces would adopt a new "unified" camouflage design, which is essentially a pixelated version of their traditional "tenue leopard" or lizard pattern camouflage, printed on a more modern uniform style. Considering the fact that all branches of the FAB have already worn the same camouflage pattern to this point, the purpose of adopting a "unified" camouflage uniform is not readily apparent. by @camopedia

A featured selection from my personal Camouflage Archives.

This uniform was pulled out of Afghanistan circa 2002-2003, after the Afghan National Army had begun to take shape. The duck hunter camouflage design was heretofore unknown/undocumented and was probably sourced from a neighboring country (Pakistan, Iran, or possibly India - depending on the end-user), although the uniform itself was certainly locally-tailored to Afghan standards. Of particular note is the Afghan-style field cap, which is very distinctive and certainly nothing that would be available commercially. Sewing is crude, but the cut is distinctive and similar to the factory-produced uniforms that were supplied en masse to the Northern Alliance during the early stages of OEF. This is an interesting example of what is likely commercial camouflage fabric being pressed into service with a paramilitary or military organization for combat purposes. I have a couple more uniforms in different camouflage patterns that all came from the same military source in Afghanistan, all nearly identically tailored, not typically associated with either NA or Tailban/government forces, but certainly intended for combat personnel. This is one of the most interesting and least documented segments of Afghan military camouflage history. by @camopedia

A rare, locally-produced TTsKO "butan" variation from Azerbaijan. This one is 1994-dated and has local OTK stamps. The fabric is course, but heavy cotton. Printing is below the Soviet standard; however, the uniform itself is a copy of the M-88 Afghanka, down to the fabric stirrups and pocket placement. This example was obtained in Azerbaijan and is unworn so the colors are unfaded and unwashed.

This is a locally-made field cap of African origins. The unusual spot camouflage pattern recalls some North Vietnamese/PAVN designs, so the fabric could be Vietnamese or Chinese in origin. It has been suggested this was captured in Rhodesia from a ZANLA terrorist, although that cannot be absolutely confirmed at this point. I have only seen one other example of this type headgear with a similar provenance and camouflage design. by @camopedia

Another rare piece captured in Southwest Africa, Egyptian in origin, and originally intended for Al-Fatah or another PLO-related group in Palestine. Compared to the item in an earlier post, this variation of the camouflage pattern has a much more blue-green dominant coloration. Unfortunately there are no labels of any kind, and thet construction is such that it may have been locally made from Egyptian-made fabric, rather than manufactured for export in Egypt itself. The sewing is crude and uneven, and button-holes are hand-stitched rather than machine finished.

Curiously, there is no known version of this pattern that was produced for the Recces by South Africa, although this piece certainly came out of that region during the period that the unit was operating clandestinely in Angola and in SWA itself. It may be this was a very uncommonly encountered version of the "red/orange" version of Egyptian vertical lizard camo. by @camopedia
