A dreamy request for the summer holidays from our 5 year old...

Poppy asked if we could go drawing outside at Calke Abbey, so off we went. But as soon as we saw the Summer of Play field in the walled garden, plans quickly changed.

Between the colourful flags and the snack kiosk, was pure childhood magic. Wooden playhouses, dressing up, and musical instruments for the little ones, as well as football, soft archery, and sports day races. But it was the marble run that caught Poppy’s eye and she spent hours building and rebuilding with a cohort of newly-made friends / budding engineers.

We did manage a quick sketching session at the end of the afternoon but it was cut short because Pop was tired so we were forced to forage for emergency ice creams. 🍦

Loads of space to run around, fresh air, and an entire afternoon playing outside—highly recommend for anyone with kids around age 8/9 and under.

One of my low tulipwood bowls, paired with @campbell_cole’s gorgeous key wrap. I designed this quiet, minimal piece for holding and displaying functionally daily items: jewellery, keys, a watch. At home on a desk, a bedside table or wherever you empty your pockets. (Not an ad!)

An evening in Dalt Villa, Ibiza...

Our first holiday without a buggy, so walking along reasonably steep cobbled paths up to the top of the old town felt a little risky but we were all keen to go and our 5‑year‑old smashed it.

I’d definitely recommend visiting in the evening so you avoid the heat and can take the time to enjoy some food and drinks.

Although, we’d planned on finding a restaurant a little higher up, we decided no climbers (particularly little ones) should start their adventures on an empty stomach, so we found a vibrant italian restaurant called Il Dek @ildekibiza to fill up on pizza and pasta. There we sat in the shade of the historic walls before venturing onwards and upwards through the gateway of the Dalt Villa.

Historic walls, pretty doorways, sunset views and a well-earned fruit smoothie from @canraio on the way back down made it all such a gorgeous evening. If you’re staying nearby, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Holiday hero: the BD11 Wash Bag in our new Navy colour.

We used the small size for all our sun creams — easy to grab for the pool or beach. It fits 2×200ml bottles plus a couple of small tubes. Keeping them altogether meant no more rummaging to find the right one.

Also a great Father’s Day pick for the minimal traveller. Ian used a small wash bag for his toiletries for our whole week away - he does travel lightweight!

A week of sunsets in Ibiza.

Cala Tarida is a sheltered cove on the west coast of Ibiza, with warm clear calm water. Such a chilled vibe, music drifting, families with young children playing in the sand next to night-out nappers, and the occasional luxury yacht dropping off for a spot of lunch.

Other than a scattering of hotels and restaurants, there isn’t much there, which was exactly what we needed. Eat, sleep, swim, repeat. We didn’t want to leave. taken in Cala Tarida, Ibiza by @campbell_cole

My packing list is in full flow ...

✔️ Food flask
✔️ Lunch boxes
✔️ Water bottles

When you have a child with food allergies, travelling light is not an option because you’re never going anywhere without a bag full of food.

What I have learnt, over the past few years of carting it all around - is that food and drink stored in plastic or silicone (particularly in summer when it’s warmer) start to pick up the taste of the container. I dread to think about what microplastics we’ve consumed. So, for ‘proper’ food like sandwiches, pasta and salads, I’m a stainless steel convert.

And especially for water, so much fresher.

So, we’ll be the ones fully prepared, clinking our way through the airport, laden with food ... our arms may well drop off but at least we won’t be paying £50 for an airport sandwich.

A quick trip to London to see Ian’s brother, who took us for a potter around his local park, which we all loved.

@brockwell_park has a fantastic kid’s playground, a walled garden that has so many beautiful flowers (and benches for a sneaky mid morning ice cream), tennis courts and a bike park. We also popped in to have a peak at the community greenhouses - oh my goodness, some amazing spaces for workshops, as well as beehives, and plants for sale. Such good vibes on a sunny Sunday morning. I didn’t take many photos but here’s a few...

We had the most eggcellent time at our Craft & Story workshop this week! 🐣✨

The children painted and decorated their cardboard eggs, which we then strung together with twine to make the sweetest spring garlands. Midway through, we paused for a Peter Rabbit story and everyone was keen to help spot all the hidden eggs in the book.

It was such a lovely session, full of colour, creativity… and even a Spiderman‑themed egg that made everyone smile.

Our next workshop, Spring Birdies, is on Friday 10th April, and there are just 2 spaces left! 🐦🌷
