2026 Sports in Kansas XC Runner to Watch: Campbell Harger, Blue Valley Southwest Junior

Campbell Harger has quickly established herself as one of the top distance runners in Kansas and enters her junior season at Blue Valley Southwest with an already impressive résumé at both the state and national levels.

Harger made an immediate impact as a freshman, placing 11th individually at the state cross country meet while helping Blue Valley Southwest finish third as a team. She followed that with a 10th-place finish in the 1600 at the state track meet.

As a sophomore, Harger took another major step forward. She captured a regional cross country championship before finishing sixth individually at state and helping the Timberwolves to a fourth-place team finish.

That success carried over to the 2026 track season, where Harger won a regional title in the 1600 and earned two state medals, finishing sixth in the 1600 and seventh in the 800. She also captured the KC Metro Mile championship and capped off her track season by earning All-American honors as part of a second-place State DMR performance at Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Now, Harger has her sights set on an even bigger junior cross country season.

“I am so excited for this upcoming season and can’t wait to keep working hard. This sport is just as much of a team sport as it is individual and I am eager to see what our team can do this year. I have goals for myself and this team and I am counting down the days until we are back on the course! ”

With two state cross country medals already to her name and a proven ability to compete among the best in Kansas, Harger will be one to watch this fall for Blue Valley Southwest.
