Who gets remembered? Who gets left out? And what are we leaving behind?

For LGBTQ+ History Month, Episode 3 of The Q by Qnotes explores the stories that don’t always make it into history books and why preserving them matters.

Plus, politics, culture and queer progress across the South.

Episode 3 is out now. Watch The Q by Qnotes on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts.

Huge thanks to NCDP 1st Vice Chair Cameron Pruette and everyone who showed up to canvas yesterday! We successfully hit different areas of Greensboro. The common thread in all our conversations? People are hurting financially. Appreciate everyone who came out to listen and show up for our community.

It was a HOT Pride this year, y'all! Thanks to all the leaders and volunteers with @cltpride who put on the city's largest annual festival and parade. I'm honored to receive this year's Harvey Milk Award, a reminder to keep hope in this moment.

"You have to give them hope. Hope for a better world, hope for a better tomorrow, hope for a better place to come to if the pressures at home are too great. Hope that all will be all right." - Harvey Milk

Pride is a time to celebrate and stand up, and it's always great to be with friends and family. The countless people who are putting in the work to build community, care for each other, and continue to create.

Speaking of leaders who give me hope, I was glad to have @jd4clt with me down the parade route today! Even with the heat, thousands of people came together this weekend. And will continue to take actions day after day in the fight for justice.

And, of course, remember that early voting in North Carolina begins October 15th! Every office on your ballot matters, and make sure to use your power! #pride #ncpol by @campruettenc

If I've seemed off the grid, it's because I've been setting up one of the most important programs @freedomcenternc does every year - our annual Trans Faith and Action Network (TFAAN) retreat, which brings together Trans seminarians, clergy, and participants from all over the country to the Avila Center in Durham.

It's a special time of envisioning and equipping. I'm constantly reminded that a better future is possible. So proud of these leaders, who are being intentional on protecting our people and fighting for a more just tomorrow. We can't let our political or spiritual lenses be constricted by this moment, we can and will demand more. Grateful to be able to support this work! by @campruettenc

Still reflecting on a powerful Unity Dinner with @ncdemocrats from across the state! We have energized volunteers, organizers, leaders, and folks who are fighting for our state.

Grateful that @elizabethwarren came to North Carolina, and she's putting her money behind the message - donating directly to the NC Dems and other state parties.

What's giving me hope right now? The people who aren't giving up. The people who are showing up. The people who are innovating, striving, and believing a better future is possible.

We keep up the fight, not just to November, but beyond. And we're gonna do it together. #ThisIsTheWay by @campruettenc

Yesterday, I got to be in Bolton with @kimberlyhardyforcongress and @brittanyfornchouse, as they provided groceries for the community, feeding over 75 families in Columbus County.

These two candidates are campaigning like they'll govern - meeting people in their communities and responding to their needs. They're all in and need our support, to flip both the US House and NC House. by @campruettenc

16 volunteers showed up in the heat to knock doors in Fuquay-Varina! NC Senator Lisa Grafstein and Winn Decker, Candidate for NC House, are key to building power in North Carolina.

They're going to solid votes in support of the people, standing up to the corrupt bigots who currently push legislation that targets vulnerable people and defunds our schools and hospitals. We need legislators like them who won't be bought.

They're also two of our LGBTQ leaders, who will lead in the fight for equality! Kudos to Beth and Elaine for organizing the canvass.

Cameron Pruette has been elected first vice chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party.

Delegates elected Pruette during the party's 2026 State Convention after a campaign focused on coalition building, grassroots organizing and reaching voters who are too often overlooked.

Pruette said he plans to travel the state, support Democratic candidates and continue building relationships across North Carolina as the party prepares for the 2026 election cycle.

His election also places one of North Carolina's most prominent LGBTQ+ advocates in a statewide Democratic Party leadership role.
