I’ve struggled to find the words because no words could ever explain the ache of losing your dad. it’s been a week since you left us, and somehow the world keeps turning while mine feels like it stopped. My life has changed in such a short time. it feels like a piece of my heart was taken with you and i’m not sure when it will feel whole again.

I keep hearing story after story about how proud you were of me. those words have become one of the few things keeping me afloat. knowing how deeply you believed in me gives every accomplishment, every goal, and every step a greater purpose now. I promise to continue growing into the woman you always knew I would be. i’ll spend the rest of my days making you proud.

I promise to take care of Joye, just as you always would. I’ll love loudly, dance with my whole heart, and continue shining the light you gave us. i’ll carry your spirit with me in everything I do.
