Biidaasige Park's second phase opens July 25, adding 10 acres to the northwestern edge of Ookwemin Minising, Toronto's newest island and largest new park in a generation.

What's new:
🎨 The Lassonde Art Trail: Canada's first outdoor art park, featuring 15 installations along 4 km of trails, including a permanent Kent Monkman sculpture
🚣 A new launch point for paddling and non-motorized boats
🚶 A waterfront promenade along the harbour's edge
🏗️ The 300-ton Atlas Crane, preserved as a landmark of Port Lands history

The expansion builds on the 50 acres already open, home to the giant climbable owl, ziplines, picnic areas, and the newly restored Don River.

An exciting new pilot program is launching this summer bringing a new waterfront travel option within reach of Canary District residents.

Waterfront Toronto, in partnership with the City of Toronto and the Toronto Port Authority, has selected York Bay Marine Services to operate the East-West Water Shuttle Pilot. Running from June through September, the service will test expanded water-based transit across Toronto’s Inner Harbour.

With a stop at Ookwemin Minising (Port Lands/Biidaasige Park)—just minutes south of the Canary District—the shuttle offers a convenient new way to reach the central waterfront and Billy Bishop Airport.

Stops include:
⚓ Ookwemin Minising (Port Lands/Biidaasige Park) – new
⚓ Yonge Street Slip
⚓ Portland Slip / Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport – new

If successful, this pilot could mean faster, more scenic connections right from your neighbourhood.

This May 17th, hop on your bike and head just minutes from Canary District to Tommy Thompson Park for Birding by Bike — a guided springtime ride through one of Toronto’s most breathtaking urban nature escapes.
