SECOND YEAR IN A ROW?!!?✨😭👩🏽‍🍳 guys i’ve been nominated for leading chef of the year!! im on the official shortlist at this year’s prestigious This Is Manchester Awards!!!! @thisismcrawards

and honestly, this one feels a little different.

going from a commis chef to now being a junior sous chef means more to me than i can probably put into words. especially as a female chef, because this industry isn’t always easy, and there have definitely been moments where i’ve questioned myself, pushed myself harder and wondered if i really could do it.

but i did. and i’m still doing it.

i’m so grateful for every chef who has taught me, every person who has believed in me and every opportunity that has helped me grow into the chef and leader i am becoming.

but more than anything, i hope the younger chefs watching me can see that you really can build the career you dream about. whether you’re 16 and thinking about going to catering college, starting your first kitchen job or just wondering if you’re good enough — you are.

i’m not doing this because i think i have it all figured out. i’m doing it because i want to show that there is a place for people like us in kitchens, at every level. 🥹

so grateful to be nominated. this one is for the little commis who started it all, and for every young chef who’s just getting started 🤍

Get ready for a ✨cringy✨ little post

18 months ago I got promoted to head of pastry at the ivy in manchester. And that’s the day I made my first “pasty chef day in the life” I remember feeling silly and stupid like who would watch this??? It got 4k views and a few comments mostly from my friends and family supporting me. I’m eventually I did more. The more I did. The more people teased me about it at work. “She’s trying to be an influencer” little did I know what I was doing / how far it was gonna go. Chefs around the world were coming to me for advice, asking so many questions, telling me I’m their inspiration?? Still to this day it blows my mind.

Doing this has changed me over the last 18 months. I found confidence, with @lillianahelenaltd with the coolest photoshoot showcasing my personality as a chef 👩🏽‍🍳 I loved myself more, stopped caring what other people thought. Even got nominated for awards with @thisismcrawards and @thestaffcanteen 🌟 managed to work with some amazing brands, invited to restaurant openings and meeting the most incredible people. To my surprise even @the_ivy_collection and @ticcareers full supported me and even payed me a visit to manchester to do some filming with ME?! 🥹

I’m truly blessed to have the most support friends and family, supportive coworkers that continuously keep telling me to never stop and keep going 📈 even going to Paris was the biggest blessing and push I needed to really show myself I can become the best pastry chef version of myself. All the teasing and the jokes, the hate comments, the people making fun of me, it’s all been worth it because I never thought I’d be sharing my little chef life to 50,000 of you.

If you’re seriously debating to start posting on social media or thinking that it’s stupid. Just post. Post a photo. A video. Just do it because I promise you, it’ll be one of the best things you’ll ever do.
