Streaks on your denture or trouble removing it from the model? 🤔

The cause often lies before the actual processing: in the isolation.

Here is how to get it right:

💧 Remove all wax residue and soak the plaster model, matrix and counter model thoroughly
🖌 Use a clean, soft brush and pour ISO-K into a separate cup
✨ Apply two even layers and let the first one dry completely

A silky matt, non tacky film tells you the isolation is ready for the next step.

⚖️ Life is often about balance…
But what does that mean in prosthetics?

Here, “balance” takes on a very concrete meaning:
Balance contacts occur during dynamic occlusal movement.
In addition to the working side (laterotrusion), there are also intentional contacts on the balance side (mediotrusion).

Why is this important?
Because it’s precisely this “second side of the scale” that creates stability.

Without it, the prosthesis can tip during movement. With it, it remains in a controlled and functional balance.

The scale illustrates it perfectly:
It’s not just one side that counts, it’s the interplay of both.

In prosthetics, it’s always about finding the right balance, down to the last detail! You can find the exact definition on the last slide or in our glossary.

Haven't consciously thought about it in a long time? 🦷🧠

Yet this is one of the most important fundamentals for effective prosthetics.

It describes the path of movement of the condyle in the temporomandibular joint. That is, the path the lower jaw follows during opening and gliding movements.

The key point: The condylar path is anatomically determined and unique to each patient. That is exactly why it has a direct impact on dynamic occlusion and the design of dental prostheses.

Fundamentals like these make all the difference in high quality prosthetics.
