My POV before I cut any hair ✂️‼️

I always take a picture or record my recommendations of what needs to go. This gives a client an idea and a visual of where their length will be after the cut.

✨THE MORE YOU KNOW WARNING: Dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis ✨

Dandruff can be caused by…

❌irritated oily skin (styles that cause tension or cause you to sweat and hold in moisture)
❌a yeast like fungus called Malassezia which feeds on oils on the scalp (MOST COMMON)
❌dry skin/scalp (lack of mosisture WHICH DOES NOT COME FROM OIL)
❌contact dermatitis from sensitivity to hair care products
❌other skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Vs

Seborrrheic Dermatitis (pictured ) which has the same causes but consists of more and larger flakes with an oily, yellow appearance.

To decrease outbreaks …

🫶🏾regularly shampoo and condition. Shampooing not only cleanses your hair and scalp but also is how you MOISTURIZE your hair and scalp. You do not drink oil to rehydrate.
🫶🏾Less scalp oiling. The fungus Malssezia literally feeds on oil + prevents moisture (water) from getting into your hair cuticles. Remember in science? Oil and water do not mix.
🫶🏾Glued down Wigs for longer than 1-2 weeks are a no no , especially factory made wigs. They keep in heat and moisture which bacteria and fungi thrive in. I have a scalp accessible AND breathable custom glueless wig option for issues like this.

It always helps to visit a dermatologist and your primary care physician to get blood work to see if there’s any internal work you should be doing (vitamin deficiencies, genetic dispositions etc)

Silk press and curls 😍

We discussed her hair health and routine. She washes regularly so her silk press turned out beautifully! 💕

For a silk press, half the work is on YOU and the other half is on me. Moisturizing (SHAMPOOING) your hair regularly , staying up to date on your trims and making sure your styling methods are healthy for your hair is all work needed to ensure your silk press is silky and lasts.

Chemical services like color or straightening treatments absolutely can be done safely HOWEVER chemicals will always create change. What matters is the process of that change and making that change safely. She received this color and a blow dry service at a chain salon.

Her mids and ends were structurally damaged affecting the elasticity of her hair or the ability for it to bounce back (like a rubber band). She was advised that the best way was to cut it off but she wanted to grow it out before doing so. Aphogee or any protein system in the mean time would possibly help repair her hair but the damage was extensive.

We went with a flexible rod set to create consistency and volume in the meantime 💕🔥
