One of the women in Uhaj fell ill and was getting treated in Baguio, so her neighbors, the community came together and planted on her ricefield for her, so she wouldn’t miss the planting season. About 50 people from the village showed up, others brought food and drinks, and cooked lunch for everyone.

In Ifugao they have a word for this beautiful gesture, it’s called “batares” (bayanihan) ❤️ And I was honored to be a part of it. taken in Uhaj, Banaue by @candyreyes

We drove 1,255 kilometers from Baguio to Tugegarao-Peñablanca-Baggao-Sta Ana-Anguib-Luna (Apayao)-Pagudpud-Vigan-La Union and back - with our dogs, kayaks, camping gear, and whatever else we could pack into our pick up. We had no specific plans, often just deciding the day before where we would end up - met some locals along the way who connected us to other people and gave us great travel advise that made this road trip even more special ❤️ Crystal clear rivers, majestic caves, cool blue lagoons and waterfalls, white sands and a most beautiful beach, ending in cobblestoned streets and historic buildings - definitely an adventure for the books!!! ❤️

This year’s poster was made by local artist @keepiluden 🤍 Kili is a Baguio-born illustrator specializing in detailed drawings inspired by nature, identity, and culture. She is currently a Social Studies high school teacher in Sagada. Catch more of her art at the @lakkemgallerynstudio booth at the fair!
