Meet the Speaker: BJ Williams

BJ Williams is the founder of Can I Be Vulnerable (#CIBV), a community-rooted movement born from lived experience, cultural healing, and the transformative power of vulnerability. A former college football and track athlete turned educator, model, and advocate, BJ’s journey through grief and therapy inspired him to create a platform that encourages honest conversations about mental health—particularly among Black men, who are often underserved in mental health care despite facing significant challenges.

What began as a single, heartfelt social media post has grown into an award-winning movement featured on KTLA, ESPN, The Root, and Blavity. Today, CIBV includes a docu-series, a school-based curriculum piloted with LAUSD, a mobile mental wellness unit, and a nonprofit foundation providing housing and wraparound support for transitional-age youth.

At the heart of BJ’s work is a simple but powerful belief: healing begins with the courage to be vulnerable. Through storytelling, advocacy, and community engagement, he continues to create spaces where individuals feel empowered to share their experiences, seek support, and embrace their healing journey.

June is Men’s Health Month. 💙
