💪Maryland puts cannabis testing transparency + consumer protection to the test.

Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) is launching the CSQ CLEAR Pilot Program in partnership with Cannabis Safety & Quality (CSQ) to evaluate the consistency and reliability of cannabinoid testing across Maryland’s regulated cannabis market.

🔬The pilot program begins this month testing Maryland flower products across four MCA-registered independent testing laboratories and MCA’s own reference laboratory. The resulting five reports will be evaluated for agreement between laboratories, repeatability within laboratories, and differences between current results, product labels, and original Certificate of Analysis (CoAs).

✍️ Findings are expected by end of the year and will be anonymized, used for informational purposes only, and carry no punitive consequences. The CSQ CLEAR pilot adds another layer to that existing testing infrastructure — comparing results across Maryland’s four registered independent laboratories and the state reference lab using the CLEAR assessment model.

“MCA has always had a strong focus on ensuring cannabis product quality in Maryland”, says MCA Director Tabatha Robinson, “The CSQ CLEAR Pilot program provides us an opportunity to measure our efforts industry-wide and adjust if necessary.”

ICYMI: In March 2024, MCA opened its Office of Laboratory Services reference laboratory — the first in the nation dedicated exclusively to cannabis oversight and managed by a state cannabis regulatory agency. Later in April 2025, the lab achieved ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation- the international standard for testing and calibration laboratory competence. Its responsibilities include proficiency testing, developing standardized cannabis testing methods, compliance testing, and conducting testing to review results from four independent MCA-registered labs in Maryland.

Cannabis Gives Back to Wash.Co. via the Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund in $1.9MILLION ways

Help shape how the funds are allocated by taking the Wash.Co Office of Grant Management survey- then comment below with a local organization that supports any of the 15 priority issues identified in the survey to help them learn about the Washington County Cannabis Reinvestment Funds (ORD-2025-31)

How is this possible?
When Maryland legalized Adult-Use cannabis in July-2023 the law created the COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT AND REPAIR FUND (CRRF) which receives 35% of cannabis sales tax revenue.

Counties with cannabis retail stores receive a portion of these funds and must redistribute them to local community-based organizations serving populations disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition.

To ensure accountability, counties are required to:
- follow Maryland’s Cannabis Reform Act of 2023
- create community input processes (like the survey Wash.Co released today)
- report to the Maryland Office of Social Equity which organizations receive funding and how it benefits the community.

Let’s talk topicals! I’ve been testing @cosmechealing Reactivate Salve, and 3 things really stood out to me:
