POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Looking after the nation's forests doesn't always involve trees.

At Cannock Chase Forest, clearer pedestrian and cycle routes have been added alongside our staff driveway, helping keep people safely separated from vehicles. With foresters, ecologists, planners, rangers and many others using the driveway throughout the day, it's a simple change that's making a big difference. 🚶🚲 by @cannockchaseforest

🎄 After many years of festive trading, Christmas tree sales at Cannock Chase Forest will not be returning this year.

As a largely self-funded organisation, these sales once made an important contribution to the income that helps us care for the nation's forests. However, as returns declined and commercial pressures increased, they were no longer financially viable.

This Christmas, visitors can still enjoy our festive Room on the Broom trail, seasonal treats from Grounds Café, and plenty of frosty forest walks and bike rides.

Thank you for your patience while we had to close areas of the forest. We’ve finished removing the dead trees that were at greater risk of being blown over around the main visitor centre, and our car parks and trails are all now open as normal.

While forests play a vital role in tackling climate change, they're also increasingly feeling its effects. This has been one example of the challenges climate change is creating for forests across England, and why we're working to make our forests more resilient for the future.

It’s UK Fungus Day 🍄🍄‍🟫

An annual celebration of our fungal worlds and what a display we’ve been seeing across our patch this autumn 🍂

📸Thanks to Forestry England Ranger Claire for capturing these impressive exhibits while out and about caring for the nation’s forests

Fungi are essential to the forest ecosystem, and might be rare or vulnerable, so whilst they are lovely to look at, please do not touch by @cannockchaseforest
