Stargazing Night took place in Osaka, Japan in August, hosted alongside our friends at AXEL YO-YO CUP. Thank you to everyone who came out, supported online, battled and performed at the stage. Stargazing Night recap page is now live; we’ll be releasing the battle videos and other event content there over the next weeks. Back in Osaka, we pre-released our latest Astra, Komorebi and Canopy 3D in Redrock, these yo-yos are now available for everyone on the Canopy webstore. Komorebi is a Japanese word that describes the way sunlight filters through the leaves of trees. Inspired by the moments of light that appear between the canopy, Komorebi takes its name and inspiration from this fleeting interplay of light and shadow. Designed in collaboration with Kazuki Morii, founder of Aufheben and a member of the Spinkult team, Komorebi is the third model in the Canopy Regional Series. Three releases are coming to the Canopy webstore this Wednesday! Astra, designed with Martin Koprna Komorebi, designed with Kazuki Morii Canopy 3D in Redrock, designed with Dale Tubat. All three were initially pre-released exclusively in person last month at the World Yo-Yo Contest and Stargazing Night in Japan. We’re excited to finally make them available online for everyone. The yo-yos pictured here are early prototypes. All three models went through multiple rounds of revisions before arriving at their final production versions. It takes a lot of testing, small adjustments, and back-and-forth to get a design to a point where it feels ready to release and put the Canopy name on it, and we’re really proud of where these three ended up. In Hyeok (@inhychoi) with the Komorebi in Sora. Reserved for team members and friends, Sora is a special edition of the Komorebi finished in a soft blue half-swap inspired by the sky above the canopy. Designed in collaboration with Kazuki Morii (@44_onigiri), founder of @aufheben_jp, Komorebi is the third model in the Canopy Regional Series. Building on the Canopy design language, Kazuki drew inspiration from the Caribou Lodge BvM2’s stepped rim, compact proportions, and precise control - reinterpreting the spirit of the early 2010s through a contemporary design. We made a small number of Sora Komorebi, and we’d like to share a few of them with the community. Caribou Lodge, Atmos Projects, and Spinkult - the three founding brands behind Canopy, will each be giving one away. Caribou gave theirs away yesterday on their Discord, with Atmos and Spinkult still to come. The Komorebi is now available in four other colorways: Asahi, Wakaba, Kouyou, and Kareha. We’re welcoming Still Genius as our official apparel partner for Stargazing Night for the second year in a row. This year, In Hyeok Choi designed a special Stargazing Night graphic for a shirt available exclusively at the event. Built around the idea of making a wish beneath the night sky, the artwork reinterprets the crescent moon as a yo-yo, while the 16 stars represent the 16 players competing at Stargazing Night. More than a reference to the night itself, the design reflects the moments of inspiration that come from gathering under the same sky - celebrating creativity, connection, and the wishes that bring us together in the first place. Still Genius is a vintage-inspired brand rooted in the celebration of individuality. If “still” speaks to the quiet presence of clothing in the rhythms of life, “genius” honors the unique spark within each person. Their pieces are classic, functional, and delicately textured - designed not to overshadow, but to elevate the wearer.
