THE #CANUCKS’ DRAFT CLASS SUMMARY + GRADES IS HERE! CHECK IT OUT NOW 👀

C Caleb Malhotra may be the best center in this year’s draft as he has a high hockey IQ, great leadership and has the abilities to become a legitimate top-line #NHL center. I would compare Malhotra to Bo Horvat/Aleksander Barkov.

LW Adam Novotny is such a steal, a lot of people have said that he should’ve been picked in between picks 13-18. Great goal scorer as he notches 34 goals and 65 points in 58 games for the Peterborough Petes (OHL), he is a big guy, coming at 6’1” and 200 pounds. A very competitive player as well. I have high hopes for this young guy. Only concern is that if he doesn’t improve his skating, it might turn him into a middle-six winger which we don’t really want in a rebuild. Very solid. I would have to compare him to Nikolaj Ehlers/Martin Necas.

C Brooks Rogowski is a massive guy, coming at 6’7” and 236 pounds as a right-shot center. Very intriguing player the Canucks have selected as he has 15 goals and 42 points with the Oshawa Generals (OHL.) I would compare him to Adam Lowry or Jordan Staal.

RW Niklas Aaram-Olsen has great skating and a great offensive-side. If developed well, he could be a top-nine winger, as he scores 20 goals and 40 points with Orebro HK U20 (U20 Nationell.) I would compare him to Adrian Kempe/Valeri Nichuskin. Really looking forward to seeing his upcoming development. Guy’s gonna be underrated for sure.

G Dmitri Ivchenko is a great pick, especially for a goaltender. Great stats with Omskie Yastreby (MHL) with a 1.91 GAA, 0.922SV% with 4 shutouts this year. I think the Canucks have made a great steal on him as well. I compare him to Pyotr Kochetkov/Ilya Samsonov.

At pick 97, we got C Yaroslav Bryzgalov, he’s a great playmaker with 42 assists and 55 points in 64 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL.) He’s a great bottom-six center and the Canucks certainly need some young depth as they head into a rebuild. Pretty good gamble I would say. I would also compare him to Scott Laughton/Nick Bonino.

RW Connor Davis is honestly a long-term project, hoping that he develops great. His game reminds me of Dakota Joshua (c by @canuckscolumn
