My very first sunrise hike, on one hour of sleep.

For the longest time, I thought waking up at 1 or 2 in the morning just to hike a mountain sounded crazy. Not to mention hiking in complete darkness. It was one of those things I always wanted to experience but never actually made the effort to do.

Well, I finally did it, and now I understand why people love it so much.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget watching the sun rise over those mountains. I got a little emotional just taking it all in. Sometimes I look around and can’t believe how beautiful God’s creation is. No picture or video will ever do it justice.

What made it even better was the people I got to share it with. The conversations, the laughter, the pan dulce, cafecito, hot chocolate, and the fact that someone carried all of that up a mountain for us. It’s those little things that make an experience so memorable.

I’m really thankful I got invited and that I said yes, even on almost no sleep.

I think about how many experiences we miss out on simply because something feels inconvenient or outside of what we’re used to. This was a little reminder of that for me.And now I’m already looking forward to the next one.

📍Mount Washburn, Yellowstone National Park

At 10,219 feet,
one of the highest peaks you can reach by trail in Yellowstone 🏔️

I stood at the highest elevation I’ve ever reached.
Not a fourteener. Not the tallest mountain in the world. But the highest I’ve ever been,
that made it unforgettable.
Every summit is someone’s biggest summit.
Every climb teaches you something new.
