Entrepreneurship will humble you.

Building PIF has taught me lessons that no book, podcast or business class could have taught me.

One of the biggest?

Stop expecting your family and friends to be your customers.

Your business isn’t supposed to survive because the people who love you feel obligated to support you. Get uncomfortable. Walk into rooms where nobody knows your name. Talk to strangers. Introduce yourself. Pitch the business. Hear “no.” Go back again.

Those strangers can become customers.
Those customers can become relationships.
Those relationships can change your life.

Another lesson I learned: the customer isn’t always right.

But the person spending their money is the boss.

There’s a difference.

You don’t have to agree with every customer, change your vision for every complaint or allow anyone to disrespect your business. But when someone chooses to spend their hard earned money with you, pay attention. Listen. Learn what they value. Understand why they bought and why they might not buy again.

And maybe the biggest lesson of all:

Get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Building something from nothing is rough. Some days you feel like you’re winning. Other days you question everything. But every mistake, every slow day, every failed idea, every uncomfortable conversation and every small win is teaching you how to become a better entrepreneur.

I’m still building PIF.

I’m still learning.

And instead of waiting until I “make it” to talk about the journey, I’m going to start sharing the lessons while I’m actually living them.

Because somebody building behind me might need to hear what I had to learn the hard way.
