Ahoy, ye scallywags! Listen close to a tale of the high seas that'll blow ye down! 🏴‍☠️

Contrary to the bilge spewed by landlubbers, a pirate ship weren't just bloody chaos and madness. Before weighing anchor, every jack on board bound his soul to the ship's law. We called 'em the Articles of Agreement, or the Pirate Code! These weren't mere suggestions, matey. They were fierce, binding contracts, signed in ink or blood!

==============================
 THE CODE OF THE BLACK FLAG
==============================
* DIVVYING THE BOOTY: Every share of gold writ down plain.
* PIECE OF MIND INSURANCE: Lose an arm or a peg, earn extra coin.
* NO ROBBING MATES: Steal from the crew, face the desert isle.
* LIGHTS OUT, DOGS: Candles snuffed early to save the timber from fire.
* NO BRAWLING OR GAMBLING: Keep yer dice and yer fists put away.

And don't ye think the Captain was a god onboard, neither! The crew voted 'em in, and by thunder, we could toss 'em out if they grew too tyrannical. The Quartermaster was the crew’s true voice, holding the Captain’s boots to the fire.

By the powers, we dogs of the sea were runnin' a true democracy! We were fairer than any royal navy or stuffy merchant vessel sailing the map in the 1700s! by @capn.stabn

Aye, some of the most feared sea-dogs as ever walked the planks wore skirts! When most landlubbers picture a pirate, they see a scruffy rogue with a hook and a squawkin' bird. Yet two of the fiercest souls to ever hunt gold wore petticoats and fought side-by-side with the blackest scoundrels of the Caribbean. Back in the early 1700s—right in the thick of the Golden Age of Piracy—Anne Bonny and Mary Read sailed under the jolly flag of Calico Jack Rackham.

The Fiercest Rogues

Anne Bonny and Mary Read disguised as lads at first, but their bold grit soon struck fear into every heart.

In the heat of battle, they fought like demons while their own yellow-bellied mates cowered below deck.

When captured in 1720, brave Anne barked at the cowards: "If ye'd fought like men, ye wouldn't be hangin' like dogs!"

Not all sea-rovers had whiskers; some carried barking pistols and sharp cutlasses.

History calls 'em exceptions, but the rolling waves knew 'em as true equals.

Ahoy! Back in the early 1700s, scallywags built a free pirate haven in Nassau, Bahamas, electin' captains and sharin' loot till King George sent Governor Woodes Rogers in 1718 to hang the lot or grant pardons!

The Rise (1706): Out-of-work sailors took Nassau, pitchin' crowns and making their own rules.

The Pirate Code: Men voted on captains and split plunder fair-like, minus the king's greedy cut.

Famous Rogues: Benjamin Hornigold, Edward Teach (Blackbeard), and Charles Vane called it home.

The Fall (1718): Governor Woodes Rogers brought king's pardons and swinging ropes.

Aye, those scoundrels ran their own rocky realm, shunned fancy politicians, and shared the gold. History calls it a republic of thieves. We call it the only time humanity got the rules right! by @capn.stabn
