1) ESOPs in CTC
A ₹50 LPA CTC with ₹40L in ESOPs is not a ₹50L salary.
ESOPs vest over time and may or may not be worth anything.

2) Gratuity in CTC
Gratuity can inflate your CTC, but it’s not monthly take-home pay.
Don’t count it as salary.

3) Joining Bonus With Clawback
A ₹3L joining bonus sounds great—until you learn you must repay it on exit within 12–24 months.
That’s a lock-in, not a bonus. Read the clawback clause.

4) Vague Variable Pay
“₹4 LPA performance bonus” means little without clarity. Ask:
• What’s guaranteed?
• What qualifies as 100% performance?
• How is it calculated?
No clear answer = don’t count the bonus.

First thing in the morning. Keeps you current on markets, policy and economy.

2. Startup and funding updates
Inc42 and Entracker.
If you want to track what is being built and funded in India, these two are enough.

3. Long Reads
The Ken and Finshots.
Ken for deep investigative business stories.
Finshots for crisp daily finance explainers.

4. Newsletters worth Subscribing

Numbers tell a story.

Analytics helps us understand it.

Insight helps us act on it.

Recently concluded another engaging journey on Financial Analytics with a highly enthusiastic group of learners.

Financial analytics is not simply about working with numbers or building reports. It is about connecting financial data with business context, identifying trends, understanding performance, asking the right questions and using evidence to support better decisions.

What stood out throughout the session was the curiosity of the participants and their willingness to go beyond the obvious.

The most valuable discussions often happen when we move from:

“What does the number say?”
to
“Why does it say that?”
and ultimately,
“What should we do about it?”

That shift from reporting numbers to interpreting them and creating actionable insights, is at the heart of effective financial analytics.

Grateful for the opportunity to interact with this group, share practical perspectives and be part of their learning journey.

And, as always, the learning goes both ways. Every thoughtful question and discussion adds a new perspective for the instructor as well.

Data is abundant.

Insight is valuable.

Action is transformative.

Recently concluded an engaging journey on Data Analytics with a room full of curious and ambitious learners.

While tools, techniques and analytical frameworks provide the foundation, the real value of analytics lies in developing the ability to look beyond numbers, to identify patterns, question assumptions, uncover meaningful insights and translate data into better decisions.

The best analytics professionals aren’t simply those who can work with data. They are the ones who know what questions to ask, understand what the data is really saying and can communicate insights in a way that drives meaningful action.

Grateful for the opportunity to share perspectives, exchange ideas and contribute to the learning journeys of these talented individuals.

And as always, every session reminds the instructor that teaching is also a continuous learning experience.

What happens when investing stops being theoretical⁉️
