Today we said goodbye to Brady, aka Brados, Big Guy, Monsieur Big Guy, Brades.
If we broke down his life into parts, we would have been part 3. The first 6 years he spent with an elderly person who passed away and he ended up in the shelter. Amy’s Mom then adopted him and he spent 6 years with her until she passed away. We took him home and for the last 6 years we got to love him.
He came to us as an indoor/outdoor cat and let us know right away that he would be staying that way. We realized quickly that he was our self appointed guard, never missing a dog walk in the cemetery nearby with us, sitting in the yard or on our porch watching the gravel path as bikes and dog walkers went by, and spending each morning while Dan ate breakfast, sitting together on our Adirondack chairs in the yard.
He loved going on little adventures, and had no qualms about walks in the snow. In fact, if we tried to leave him in the house for a particularly chilly walk he would howl.
People often stopped us to ask if we knew we had “a cat following us” on our walk, and soon he became well-known.
In the house, he ruled the roost, even over our dog Bocce, often plopping himself in the hallway to block his path for fun. He snuggled with our cat Popcorn, and helped mend the relationship between Bocce and our shy cat Biz (it’s a long story).
He was the best at giving head butts and “gentle” bites when happy, and loved to “help” Dan work by knocking over things off of his desk. He pretended he didn’t want to cuddle, but often Amy would wake up in the morning and find him snuggled next to her.
He truly added so much happiness and fun into our house, and had such a big, loving, bold, playful, and goofy personality wrapped up in a perma grumpy face.
The house (and yard) won’t be the same without him, and we’ll miss seeing his face in the window waiting to greet us when we get home. taken in Kennebunk, Maine by @capshore

Hi, I’m Amy, a tourism photographer, lifelong sticker collector, and the person behind the Maine Sticker Machine!

As a kid growing up in Maine in the 80s and 90s, I was completely obsessed with stickers. I never really outgrew that, and like any good millennial, I turned it into a job! The Maine Sticker Machine is my way of celebrating Maine in an accessible, fun, affordable way for locals and tourists alike.

In my work with Capshore Photography, I meet so many wonderful people living in and visiting Maine, and get to spend time documenting all the incredible things that make Maine so special. The sticker machines are just another extension of that for me, and a way to highlight artists whose work I genuinely love and want more people to find.

Each machine is curated with its specific spot in mind, filled with artist designed stickers inspired by Maine.

Thanks for being here, for picking up stickers, for supporting artists, and for taking a little piece of Maine with you wherever you go!
