Yesturday was a tuff one !
The buildings that were part of the skyline hot half my life just one day disappeared .
I was under then that morning , had to be at work and hour early , I would had been right under , switching trains right about the time of the first strike !
Witnessed the second strike and watched in disbelief at they fell , saw the white dusted , zombie like New Yorkers walk past me like a surreal movie scene !
If I had not made it , I would not know so many wonders , so many people and my son would not be here today !
I’m truly blessed to be alive today and pray for all those souls that did not make it out !
How could I forget 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

A most terrible day ! Life is beautiful , glad I made it through !
I salute those brave mates that stayed by my side and trusted me on that faithful day 🙏🏾
They were the real heroes of the day !
Without GOD and you boys it would have been a different story told 🔱

The 8th. Was a heavy day , one that symbolize a life lost and new one on the search for .
The day my sweet LeLe burned till there was nothing left .
I think back in that day with the heavy responsibility of captaining a vessel with 21 souls my crew and me , looking for a safe harbor .
Landed them all safe and got myself to my boy !
Not unscathed but, safe . My love and condolences to all those that lost friends and family . My love to all those that made it ! taken in Lahaina, Hawaii by @capt.mario808

Dear Lele,
last seat of the Royal Hawaiian kingdom , where King Kamehameha ruled over the newly unified archipelago, Venice of the Pacific, Pearl of my seas, where the Sandlewood flourished and the birds of paradise were many. More important the Oahu , where the spermaceti fueled light house burned & whalers came to trade.

I miss you ….
On the last full moon. She came closer than ever before as if to lay eye upon you at night for herself . Her silvery shine across your tranquil waters where as a silver smiths work table at the end of a busy day ! Your ridges backlit and stark !
I miss you ! The L bouy that always saw me off at the beginning of a trip as I went out to plow the seas and welcomed me home after a long day on your waters !

I miss you …..
I drive down the road that divided you, these days I see water colored paintings through where all dwellings once stood Superimposed over the graveled remains , all missing but, the mana still there !

I miss you…..
All the faces and local haunts, the Banyan tree, the sound of the Myna birds gossiping at the end of the day , the Harbor and the life there.

I miss you …..
you where the heartbeat and soul of maui, since ancient times !

I miss you ……
I can’t wait to see your return but, you weren’t just buildings and boats , trees and flowers.
You were the people !
The uncles and aunties, the fish mongers and boat girls. The surfers and seamen, the kids walking to school barefooted with backpacks and surf boards. The girls singing loudly as they drove down front street !
It was the fishing town with a drinking problem.

It’s with a heavy heart that I make this post ( I don’t post much )…
I heard of the mother whale off the coast of Molokai , Trapped by the reef and floating lifeless , her new calf close by , swimming desperate , scared , hungry …. In the animal Kingdom things may seem cruel , the death of one animal means the survival of many , depending on its size ! Sharks where circling her mom , feeding and at some desperate moment reality set in , even at its new born age, it knows it must go on , its instinct to survive is greater than its lost of its mother .
I can’t attest to the story and what it is but, it is not common to see births outside of their calving / mating season , so there is a great mystery in this tale as to why they were here !
The young calf’s fate is sealed in the book of life !
This is the way!
I came across it or it came across me in what we call a mugging, she circled , inspected and just like that was gone . Off the Mala Ramp , for just a moment , this ole whaler will be the last to set eyes upon that Great Humpback , Megaptera Novangiea , I will name her “ Blue “!
I will always remember the baby whale I saw July
29th. 2026 .
The sea can be a desert at times , empty , beautiful and unforgiving .
Farewell , big baby ….

If your ever been on a whale watch with me , you might have heard a distinct and ethereal music in the background as some amazing display of wildlife explodes before your eyes … it’s been by Hans Zimmer, so many scores from soundtracks to some of the most amazing movies of modern times . Dune, Interstellar, Pirate of the Caribbean and many more .
Stoked to sit for one of these candlelight moments with his music .
Not sure how I’ll react to all this as it has added audio to some of the most fantastic animal behaviors mine eyes have ever seen !

Thank you lil man for making all the colors brighter in my life , everything taste better, I cannot be more prouder of the man your becoming.
I am your greatest fan , your grandest supporter, love you more than all the atoms in the universe , more that all the sand in the 🌊
You can always count on me in a time of need , in the moments of laughter & in the times of learning how to navigate this weird wild world.
Stay humble , be kind , take care of your mother , love all the creatures of this earth & laugh, laugh and love all that you can , don’t chase money , let it chase you , don’t force love, it will come to you ,be honest and work for yourself !
