🐻💗 MEET DAVE… THE LATEST CREW BEAR TO FIND A HOME AT MONACO!

Cherise finally got to meet Captain Liam in person at the Monaco Yacht Show, after plenty of conversations from opposite sides of a screen!

And, of course, she couldn’t let him leave without his very own Crew Bear… who has officially been named Dave. 😂🐻

But behind the fun is a message that really matters.

Each bear carries information about the Yacht Crew Helpline by ISWAN, helping us get the word out about the professional, confidential support available to crew and their families when they need it.

As Captain Liam explains in this clip, that support isn’t just for junior crew. Mental health challenges can affect every rank onboard. Captains and senior crew spend long periods away from their families and support networks too.

And while those around us can listen and support, sometimes what someone really needs is access to professional help.

That’s exactly what these little bears are here to remind us of. 🫶

🐻 Name your bear
📲 Scan the QR code
💬 Know where to turn if you or someone onboard needs support
💗 Keep the conversation going

Thank you Captain Liam for helping us spread such an important message and good luck keeping Dave away from the family! 😂

If you’re at Monaco, keep an eye out for the Crew Wellbeing Bags and the bears. 🇲🇨

⚓️ CAPTAIN’S POV: THREADING THE NEEDLE INTO SEATTLE 🇺🇸

Bringing M/Y Unbridled into Lake Union isn’t your average arrival… it’s one of the coolest urban yacht approaches in the Pacific Northwest.

From the wheelhouse, we navigate beneath the Salmon Bay Bridge, through the legendary Ballard Locks, past the Ballard Bridge, then under the Fremont Bridge before finally arriving safely at Emerald Landing. 🛥️🌆

Bridges opening, locks closing, tight waterways, Seattle skyline ahead and a 58m yacht to put exactly where she needs to be. ⚓️

After a season surrounded by Alaska’s wilderness, it’s an incredible transition from glaciers, whales and bears to one of America’s most iconic maritime cities.

👀 YOUR TURN: Watch closely — what wildlife OR cool boat can you spot during the journey? Drop it in the comments 👇

And if you’ve ever taken a boat through the Ballard Locks, tell me what you were driving!

🐻 BROTHERLY LOVE… OR A TERRITORIAL DISPUTE? 🐻💥

When two Baranof brown bears start throwing paws, is it a serious disagreement over territory… or just brothers doing what brothers do? 😂

Either way, you probably don’t want to be the referee.

3 wild bear facts:
🐻 Baranof Island’s brown bears are part of the same species, Ursus arctos, as grizzlies — coastal bears often grow larger thanks to Alaska’s protein-rich salmon runs.

🧬 Brown bears and polar bears are remarkably close evolutionary relatives and can even produce fertile hybrids where their ranges overlap.

🐟 Around Baranof Island, salmon streams provide a seasonal feast, and competition around prime feeding areas can lead to some pretty dramatic bear-to-bear encounters.

From the deck of a yacht, Alaska isn’t something you simply look at , you watch the wild unfold in front of you.

So what do you think: territorial dispute or brotherly love? 👇🐻

🛥️ Ready to put Alaska on your yacht charter bucket list?
Come for the glaciers. Stay for the wildlife. Leave with stories you’ll tell forever.

🐦‍⬛ THE LEGENDS OF KAKE, ALASKA 🌲

On the northwest coast of Kupreanof Island, deep in Southeast Alaska, lies Kake. Kake is a community where the stories of the Tlingit people are woven into the ocean, forests, wildlife and land.

This isn’t just another stop on an Alaska itinerary. This is living history.

Here are 3 incredible facts:

🐦‍⬛ Raven is more than a bird.
Raven holds a powerful place in Tlingit oral traditions, appearing in stories of creation, light, water and the natural world.

🐟 Salmon have sustained generations.
For the Tlingit people of Kake, salmon are far more than something to catch. They have provided food, supported community life and helped shape traditions passed down through generations.

🌲 Kupreanof Island is true Southeast Alaska wilderness.
Kake sits surrounded by temperate rainforest, rich salmon waters and habitat for wildlife including Sitka black-tailed deer, bald eagles and black bears.

Which Bear is found in admiralty island ?

But perhaps the most important part of visiting Kake is remembering that this landscape has a human story stretching back thousands of years.

When we explore Alaska, we shouldn’t just photograph it.

Learn its stories. Respect its people. Protect its wilderness.

📍 Kake | Kupreanof Island | Southeast Alaska

Would you add Kake to your Alaska yacht itinerary? 👇

Save this for Alaska 2027 and follow for more hidden destinations, Indigenous history and wild experiences from Southeast Alaska.
