A Checkered Setwing Dragonfly (Dythemis fugax) perched on a cord

These are dentifiable by their distinctly checkered, pale-marked black abdomen and the characteristic upward-pointing posture of its tail.

It belongs to the skimmer family (Libellulidae) and is commonly found near ponds, streams, and slow waters across the southern United States.

Setwings often hold their wings flat or slightly forward while perching upright, using prominent vantage points to spot flying prey

Total trust and comfort. We had storms all night that kept her awake. You can't hear it but birds totally make a beak grinding noise that sounds like purring when they are super comfortable.

Just a reminder that our urban environments are still and always will also be wild environments. The spaces we create and interact with, we share with all the ither creatures on the flying space rock we call earth. Here is a desert hare I encountered while walking around the shoping centers located at i45 and i35 while getting a tire fixed at @discount_tire . Leave the world better than you found it, pick up trash you see and try to buy renewable/sustainable products when you can.

3 generations of the same shoe. @inov_8 G series. The Terraultra 260, Terraultra G 270, and now a pair of the Trailfy Ultra G 300.

I love how long lasting these are, normally I replace my trail runners twice or more a year but with these I've been getting about two years or 800-900 miles. It's going to be weird transitioning away from 0 drop now that I'm used to them but I'm looking forward to the extra cushioni, longer lugs, and ESPECIALLY the wider toe box.

Had a great day out running. I encountered a couple of beautiful insects and enjoyed Austin scenery at its finest. The butterfly is a painted lady (Vanessa cardui) which used to be known as the cosmopolitain and is the most widespread of all butterfly species. The second critter shown is a damselfly called the springwater dancer (Agria plana).

A fabulous day for a hike. I'm a little worried I haven't been seeing any bees. I wonder if it has anything to do with Williamson County Texas sending people out to spray round up in the rocks and edges of the paved trail. 🤔 No wonder they don't have a Twitter.
