Delighted I got to engineer and produce the latest @theirlaststop EP ‘Carvings’ prior to joining the band.

The EP opens and closes with ambient track made by @michaellamson01 with the songs we recorded at Temple Lane Studios in between.

The songs are out everywhere to check out now :)

I wanted to keep the band’s sound as authentic to themselves as possible while still creating something unique from their previous release. The vision was clear, moody and atmospheric.

We used room mics on pretty much everything, even vocals which sounded killer in the end. The room mics really helped set up a space to gell the atmosphere together early on in the production.

I doubled down with the atmospheric sound in the mixing stage, creating the guitars’ wall of sound character was a new and intuitive approach for me, essentially reaping various DI tracks and certain microphones through some guitar pedals I have. There’s something like 32 guitar tracks haha. by @captainmastering

The debut EP from @merricatband is out and WOW, it’s fantastic right the way through!

I am delighted to have gotten to work with the guys on this and every song was a lot of fun to master :)

I am incredibly proud to have worked on the banging new single from @innuendo_dublin all the way from writing to mastering.

I went all out on the mix for this tune, huge thanks to @byjanksy for wonderfully engineering us in the studio, which allowed more time for experimenting and fine details in the mix 🤝 I was able to try loads of new (to me) ideas and learned a lot from it and I couldn’t be happier with how the song sounds :))

ROSEMARY IS OUT NOW! Blood, sweat and tears went into mixing & mastering this lovely tune and I’m very proud of the finished product.

Fun fact about this track is that the bass is tuned to drop D to hit the low D in the key of F, which makes it a pretty fun and interesting bass part to play :D by @captainmastering
