Nobody prepares you.
Nobody prepares you for the heartache that follows your parents loss.
This heartache is as universal as the very air we breath.

Nobody prepares you for the grief that follows, to know you can't hear their voices, or see their smiles - truly there are no words to describe this pain.

Nobody prepares you that amidst the confines of the hospital, where life and death come together, you will stand at the edge of heart-wrenching decisions.

Nobody prepares you of the what ifs, the random welling of the eyes, the pinch in your heart.

But with this grief comes gratefulness.
Gratefulness for a life well lived
A life with no regrets,
Just wishes & desires for those left behind

There is empathy with those who share their stories,
An oddly peaceful space in grief.

There are reminders,
Reminders of deaths impartiality, of humility and of living life with grace.

There are reminders from friends & families,
Of what an extraordinary human being my dad was - and that of his journey.
In between are lessons for me to carry forward.

And just like my feelings, I will end this here,
Incomplete.
