I’m strongly considering putting Jiu Jitsu on pause for a little bit so I can start focusing on Judo. It’s so explosive and insanely effective, I think all grapplers should try and learn some judo, the hybrid’s who train both are infinitely more dangerous than their peers.

Forgot to mention something big that happened in 2025. I earned my black belt in Judo. I want to thank @odombrittfinley for taking me to my first judo class, every Judoka I’ve met along the way from Suava and the @hit_judo university crew to every judoka in Oki. I couldn’t have done this without @joejoesoejima, Aguni-sensei, and the @pacific_grappler team. You all donated time and energy to me that I will always be grateful for.

My wife and my son deserve the most thanks of all because I would never be able to get back up after a fall if I didn’t have them.

I’m seeing which moves on social media I can actually learn and the footsweep I saw from @daniel_the_manchild and @satoshiishii0141 has been a game changer. I’ve just barely got the mechanics down and it’s been an overnight difference for my takedowns. I often have a better time getting out of mount than side control. This side control escape that @kelimanglona showed us after class is legitimately one of the most technically sound variations I’ve ever learned. I immediately had to try it during sparring.
