Truly the Rock in Rio day was magical! First rock concert of my wife, enjoy moments with old friends and share memories and experiences. Music that I grew up listening and are part of my life. Long, long time I was searching to see this american grunge band. On 2001 I choose Guns and now, in 2026, I finally got the opportunity to see Dave Grohl. Since he was a drummer, I admired him and Foo Fighters came with its self-titled album in 1995 I became a fan! The show was more than I expect even though the setlist was made with the most popular songs (except “Exhausted “ - an amazing surprise) and the emotional “Aurora” dedicated to Taylor Hawkins - one of the best drummer I’ve ever listened to! It was a pleasure and an honour to be at Rock in Rio and listen one of my favourite rock group! Today was my first visit to the dentist under the SUS program in Brazil.
And you know what? I’m pleasantly surprised.
They examined me, praised me for my hygiene, described in detail everything they found in my mouth, gave me a referral for an X‑ray, and scheduled a follow‑up appointment for September 17.
And the date is also symbolic for me: exactly two years ago, on September 1, 2024, I had my braces removed. Before that, I had worn them for two years.
But that’s not the end of my dental story. After the braces, there were a few issues left that I hadn’t managed to resolve in Russia. Now I’ll be dealing with them here: the X‑rays, the treatment plan, and everything else.
So far, my first impression of the dental care through SUS is very good. The examination was thorough, the doctor explained everything, they didn’t try to sell anything urgently, and they simply referred me to the next necessary stage.
I’m continuing to test the Brazilian healthcare system for myself. Emigration isn’t just about beaches and beautiful views- it’s also about quite mundane concerns about health. taken in Nilópolis by @capymishka

Pastel (Pastry) and Caldo de Cana (sugarcane juice) are a typical combination of street markets cariocas and around Brazil.

Probably the first brazilian drink 🥤! On the 16th century the portuguese invaders brought slaves, diseases, genocide and the habit of drinking the super-mega cold sugarcane juice.

The pastry 🥐, the way we know, was created by the japanese imigrants. It’s usually filled with meat🐮 or cheese 🧀- actually it’s filled with everything possible to eat (or not - decency is gone!) and then deep fried in a huge pan with oil coming from hell - sometimes the devil himself comes to measure the high temperature 🌡️

Após duas intensas semanas de férias (ou lua de mel tardia🌜🍯), retornávamos a nossa não tão querida cidade de Nilópolis, quando, assim que chegamos na Vila Militar de Deodoro, percebi que o pneu traseiro estava flácido (sem trocadilho, por gentileza🤭), imaginei que estivesse furado, pois era o único pneu que suportava o bagageiro com duas bolsas carregadas, sem contar o condutor sedentário de quase 100 kg. Retiramos todo o peso, peguei meu compressor de ar portátil e tentei enchê-lo até perceber o óbvio: estava furado🛞💥! Como não estávamos longe de casa, continuamos empurrando as bikes enquanto conversávamos trivialidades e éramos fritos pelo sol, como camarões em uma frigideira 🦐🦐🍳. Depois de passar pela estação de trem de Ricardo de Albuquerque, um rapaz em uma pequena e imunda borracharia de autos, perguntou se queríamos que enchesse, retruquei que havia furado, ao qual, para minha perplexidade😳 ele disse que consertaria. O franzino e exótico rapaz começou o “show de reparo”, sob o olhar e a câmera de minha esposa. Ele remendou a câmara, reparou o pneu e ainda deu um banho de óleo em minhas secas e agonizantes correntes. Sometimes the best view isn't from the beach- it's from just a little higher up.
Praia do Forno, Arraial do Cabo 🇧🇷

We hiked up the hill- and for moments like this, it's totally worth breaking a sweat on the way up.
The sea, the wind, the rocks, and the two of us somewhere above it all.

Turns out, not many people do this trail in Arraial do Cabo and they're missing out.
