The vineyards belong to an area known locally as Corvagialla, meaning ‘yellow crow,’ an ancient name with origins that remain unclear. Not even the older residents can recall its history. Enamoured with the name—particularly for its unusual use of the feminine form of crow, corva—Beatrice adopted it as the name for the estate.

Baratuciat, a nearly extinct grape indigenous to the Val di Susa in the Italian Alps. From the Iuli site: “Its name means ‘cats balls’ in the Val di Susa dialect because of the shape of the berries, small and oval…”
