Literally nothing compares to the feeling of getting to walk inside the yeshiva that your great great grandfather cofounded (perks of being a direct descendent😊😊) fun fact!!! Rav Kook (the later first chief Ashki Rabbi of Israel) hand selected Rabbi Hurwitz to go on a 2-year expedition to East Asia to find the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel .. talk abt yichus!!! by @cara_springer

This Parsha details the Land that God designated for the Jews — Eretz Yisrael and outlines its specific borders. “You shall possess the Land and you shall settle in it, for to you have I given the Land to possess it” (Bamidbar 33:53). It is a mitzvah for the Jews to settle in the Holy Land as it is quite literally the Homeland of the Jewish people.

The Shabbat question from two weeks ago was about what reminds you of home - something you see, hear, smell, taste or feel. Something I’ve been thinking about is how a Jew can travel anywhere in the world and regardless of how unfamiliar the people or place might feel one thing is for sure guaranteed. If you walk into a shul, you are instantly home. Sure — there may be some new faces, a different nusach, and a different rabbi; but all those things are instantly overshadowed by everything that’s suddenly familiar — the same prayers /songs, the same Torah, and instant connection.

This is one of my favorite things about Judaism that transcends our superficial differences — community. It is Kehillah and connection (both to other Jews and to God) that enables Judaism to consistently prevail even in the most tumultuous of times🤍 taken in Western Wall Jerusalem by @cara_springer
