La felicità = finishing your first exterior mural!!!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌈🙋🏻‍♀️😎🫢🥳 Mamma mia!!!!!! After 9 days of work today I finished the first part of my mural at La Bibliothèque du Vieux-Saint-Laurent!!!!!!! Yes, there is a second part coming in a surprise location on the library, also outside which I’ll start next week. 😉 Thank you so much to my dear friend Artu Rin who came to help me today to finish all the outlines and little details! ❤️🤘🏻 And THANK YOU sooooo much to all the employees of the library who help me paint! This mural belongs to all of you!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Un GROS MERCI to Margaux Delmas from @mdcsaintlaurent who made this project possible! MUCHAS GRACIAS muchacha!!! It means the world to me that you believed in my work for this amazing project! 🫶🏻 This mural decorates the entrace to the children books section of the library, and the idea of it was done with the help with a group of kids from the area who came and brainstormed ideas with me, and drew some of those ideas to help me get inspired. The two words we chose were LITERATURE and IMAGINATION and in their drawings there were a lot of the rainbows! Today marks the release of our animated film HOLA FRIDA in French cinemas! 🎉🎬 ❤️ Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/taPg0uQxwPY?si=Ll2j3lWktpmToNM9 As I reflect on this incredible journey, I can’t help but remember the path our little Frida has taken from the very beginning. This dream came to life thanks to @sophie_faucher and the universe, full of beautiful coincidences. ✨ It all started in 2011 when I first saw Sophie dressed as Frida on a poster at the Museum of Fine Arts in Québec, promoting her theater monologue CORRESPONDANCES. I was selling my Frida dolls at the museum at the time and was so excited to see them there. Little did I know, Sophie also saw my dolls and was drawn to them! ❤️ The following year, at the SOUK Design Market in Montreal, we met again. Sophie recognized my dolls and we had a lovely conversation about Frida—she knew so much about her! She even told me about her dream of creating a children’s book about Frida’s childhood, and asked if I wanted to illustrate it. Of course, I said YES. Years later, through a series of beautiful connections, and with the support of @editionsedito , our first book, FRIDA, C’EST MOI was born! The launch at La Librairie Gallimard in Montreal the 2nd of November of 2016 will always be a highlight for me—I’ll never forget that night when my dream of becoming a children’s book illustrator came true. 😭 Fast forward to today, our little Frida has been translated in Italian and Korean, she has gone to space (literally), become an animated TV series with @telequebec winning multiple awards and now an animated film avec @tobo_studio @hautetcourt et #ducoupanimation. The film is currently playing in cinemas in France and will soon be coming to Quebec on April 4th! And as if that wasn’t enough, it will also be featured at the @nyicff and @festival_fifem ! 🙌🏻🎉 This journey wouldn’t have been possible without Sophie, who believed in the power of Frida’s story and the inspiration it would bring to children. 💖 Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible adventure! – D'où vous est venue l'idée de dessiner les yeux tels que vous les dessinez, tous étoilés ou, comme disent certains, dont mon fils, « en vitrail comme dans les églises ». - « Ça fait très longtemps que je dessine ainsi les yeux, ça remonte à l'époque où j'étais encore au Mexique (2008) et que je venais de découvrir le travail à la machine à coudre. Je cousais alors des poupées et utilisais un fil noir pour faire leurs yeux. J'avais alors réalisé que je pouvais dessiner avec la machine à coudre et que j'aimais beaucoup le résultat ! L'autrice @mjgauvin de La princesse endormie (@les_editions_les_malins , 2018) que j'ai illustré, m'a un jour dit : 'Cara Carmina voit des étoiles dans les yeux des enfants'. Et c'est vrai ! J'aime beaucoup dire que les enfants sont des 'WOWERS', qu'ils ont cette capacité à s'emerveiller de tout et dire WOW!, Et j'aime bien penser que je les aide à garder leurs yeux pleins d'étoiles ». La Muchacha is back in Montreal and today I visited 3 groups of 1st grade at l’École de la Chantignole in Bromont to share my work of Frida with the kids!!! 🙋🏻‍♀️✏️📚 I brought many of my books, some original drawings, the first sketches of the first book of the Frida series and I shared with them my process and the way I work. We watched the first episode of the web animated series Frida, c’est moi in @telequebec , which btw, each episode has pedagogic material for all the teachers out there who would like to share Frida with the kids in @tqcenclasse 😉 And of course I showed them how to draw Frida #caracarminastyle and they did an AMAZING job !!!!! Thank you so much to all the teachers who invited me to their classes again ! ❤️😊 This is the third year on a row I visit this school and it is always a pleasure to work with them! La muchacha a terminé la toute dernière étape de sa résidence artistique avec @sjjagency ! ☺️✨ Mon cœur va exploser de bonheur ! Lundi passé et hier, j’étais à la magnifique école @french_intl à Portland pour mes ateliers de Frida avec 6 groupes de petits cocos (maternelle, 1re et 2e année). Les filles, vous m'avez fait sentir comme une rock star ! 🎸🤘🏻🤩 Un merci géant de tout mon cœur aux directrices Gabrielle Esbeck et Aurore Molerus pour les portes ouvertes, à Valérie Borry et Stéphanie Martin-Sewall (la prof d'art!) pour l'aide si précieuse, et à toutes les enseignantes pour l'accueil tellement chaleureux. 🏫❤️ Hier, c'était magique : projection du film Hola Frida, séance de signatures et l'exposition hommage « de Sophie à Frida » pour notre chère @sophie_faucher. Merci infiniment à David Ruiz, délégué du Québec à Seattle, pour sa magnifique vidéo de soutien à notre culture québécoise ! 💙 Le plus grand merci va aux enfants pour leurs sourires, et spécialement à Sylvie de SJJ Agency qui a réalisé mon rêve de travailler avec les petits partout dans le monde. 😭❤️ Elle a aussi @portraitsdefemmes_officiel Même si la politique semble un peu tendue dans les nouvelles, moi, entre USA et Canada, je n'ai trouvé que de l'amour, de la bienveillance et des sourires. L'art et les enfants n'ont pas de frontières ! 🌈🇺🇸🇨🇦🇲🇽 Je rentre avec la valise pleine de souvenirs ! Today we had a few hours after my workshops of today to have a quick tour of #portland! And I am in ❤️!!!! The energy of this city is vibrant, unique, and inclusive 🌈💓. There are food trucks, murals, brick old buildings, art, vintage stores, increibly beautiful sunsets, street musicians and SUPER KIND PEOPLE everwhere!!! My #coupdecoeur ❤️ goes to @powellsbooks MAMMA MIA!!!!!! what an amazing bookstore!!!! 🌈📚❤️❤️❤️ I need to come back to Portland one day it is an inspiring city, and as people say here: #keepportlandweird 🤘🏻🙋🏻‍♀️ Gracias @sjjagency for making my dream come true of coming to this city! Hola Frida ! a illuminé l’Alliance Française de Seattle @afseattle aujourd’hui. 🌹🎬 Un grand merci à @otilia_baraboi , directrice générale, pour son accueil si chaleureux à l’Alliance Française de Seattle. Nous avons eu l’immense honneur d’avoir la présence de David Ruiz, délégué du Québec à Seattle pour cette projection 💙 Un immense merci à David pour nous avoir honorés de sa présence ; son soutien et sa participation ont fait de cet événement une occasion véritablement mémorable et inspirante. Un immense merci également à Craig Weichel, Consul général du Canada à Seattle 🇨🇦 et à toute l’équipe de @canadaseattle ! Bien qu’il n’ait pas pu être présent en personne aujourd’hui, son message vidéo chaleureux a profondément touché mon cœur, ainsi que toute le public ! Merci pour ce soutien si précieux. 🙋🏻‍♀️❣️ Une pensée toute particulière à la lumineuse @sophie_faucher , qui était avec nous à travers la magnifique exposition hommage « De Sophie à Frida ». 🌹✨ Un grand merci à l’équipe qui a donné vie à ce film : réalisé par André Kadi et Karine Vézina, produit par @tobo_studio et @hautetcourt , d’après le livre original de Sophie Fauchet et la Muchacha ✏️🙋🏻‍♀️, avec une musique originale de @laetitia_pansanel et la belle voix de @oliviaruizofficiel . 🎞️ L’événement s’est terminé en beauté avec une séance de signatures de mes livres disponibles en français chez @editionsedito et en espagnol chez @edpicarona 📚 Mon cœur déborde de joie et je me sens tellement, tellement chanceuse de vivre des moments aussi magiques ! Rencontrer le public, partager mon art et voir briller les étoiles dans vos yeux (tout comme dans les yeux de mes personnages ! 💫), c’est un rêve !!! Un immense merci à la merveilleuse Sylvie Joseph-Julien de @sjjagency pour avoir rendu tout cela possible. La muchacha a passé sa 2e et 3e journée de sa résidence à Seattle avec beaucoup de felicità ! ☺️✨ Ces derniers jours ont été très intenses. J’ai donné beaucoup d’ateliers avec les enfants, j’ai fait des signatures de mes livres et j’ai fini de peindre la petite murale pour l’école ! Elle est déjà toute prête. Je suis tellement fière et heureuse de représenter le Québec et d’apporter notre belle littérature jeunesse francophone ici à Seattle. Parfois, le ciel peut sembler un peu lourd entre nos frontières ces temps-ci, mais c’est tellement beau de pouvoir dessiner un petit pont de couleurs au-dessus des nuages pour montrer que la bienveillance et la collaboration, c’est toujours mieux ! 🌈🇨🇦🇺🇸 Aujourd’hui, c’était une journée vraiment spéciale. On a fait la projection du film Hola Frida dans l’auditorium avec tous les groupes d’enfants que j’ai visités et ceux que je vais voir demain. Je dois vous avouer que c’était tellement émouvant. Les enfants étaient super heureux pendant la projection de Hola Frida, et à la fin, leurs applaudissements m’ont fait pleurer de bonheur ! Mon cœur est plein de gratitude de voir toute cette joie dans leurs yeux. Un merci immense à Barbara Martin ❤️, la directrice de l’école @frenchamericanschool , et à son équipe incroyable. Merci aussi à tous les enseignants qui m’ont accueillie si gentiment dans leurs classes. Merci de faire ce moment si doux, amusant et complètement cara carmina style ! ❤️ Demain c’est déjà le dernier jour de la partie à Seattle de ma résidence, le temps passe trop vite !
