It’s not often that a band with the same core members can put out record after record over the course of nearly 20 years and keep getting better and more relevant in their scene with time.

@themenzingers has done just that. I went to Catholic school with @gregorbarnett and knew even back then that he thought outside the box and had a lot of creativity inside of him. I’m so proud of him and the band for everything they’ve accomplished, and it was so good seeing them today for the release of their 8th record, Everything I Ever Saw.

Greg recently said on a podcast that when he was younger, he knew he wanted to be in a band and play music professionally when he became a fan of Against Me! and saw the community they built within the scene and how meaningful their music was to their core fans. He wanted to create something important for people, and he’s done just that.

The Menzingers has been the soundtrack to my entire adult life. They’ve been with me through navigating my 20s, becoming a Mom, getting divorced and starting over, falling in love, becoming myself and reminiscing on our hometown and even friends who have passed away.

There is a level of nostalgia and feeling that their music brings me that not many others bands can accomplish. Maybe it’s the lyrics about Wayne County, maybe it’s because we grew up and went through all of these life stages together, maybe it’s just impeccable songwriting and the ability to connect through their music.

Whatever it is, Greg and the band have more than achieved their goal of making music that is important to their fans and is a fixture in our lives. And for that, I will be forever grateful.

I can’t wait to see some shows this album cycle and look forward to making new core memories with their music for years to come. Congrats, gentlemen! taken in Gallery Of Sound by @caraconnects

Warped Tour DC was such an amazing festival, despite it being hot as fuck. Thank you, @jasoncolenzo for taking me and planning out the weekend. I got to see some of my favorite bands I’ve listened to for years like @themenzingers and @jimmyeatworld. I’m so proud of @gregorbarnett for playing Warped and seeing the success of The Menzingers over the last sixteen years. It’s hard to believe we are old enough to have ten plus year album anniversaries, but here we are. I also saw some newer artists that I’m already obsessed with, like @vana_nz and @daisygrenade. Live music and festivals are my favorite thing because you get to be yourself, dance and sing your heart out, make friends, make memories and feel a huge range of emotions all in one weekend. It’s a very healing and transformative experience. This year, there was another layer of meaning to it learning of @olivertree ‘s death during the middle of the fest. Grieving that in the moment in that kind of setting was really poignant for me because it just drove home what Oliver really stood for, which is being your true, authentic self, not caring what other people think of you, expressing yourself through music and performance, and being in community with others who share the same vision. We can all take a page from Oliver’s book and remember to live our lives to the fullest. Until next year, Warped Tour. 🫶🏼🤘🏽 by @caraconnects
