🎉More background paintings for @snubbed_film !! These were some of my favorites, and I am so proud of them because they really pushed rendering and perspective for me. I learned so much!!

The second slide features the Snub Temple (this is the shot where the spirit of Snub flies through the city and reaches the monkey he posesses) which had a lot of complex design elements to it. The temple had to bend so that as the camera moved from the bottom of the screen to the top it would trick the eye into thinking it was moving THROUGH space. It turned out SO cool especially with Nicole's compositing on the shot.

The last slide features the sketch I made for the lift shot with my storyboards underneath, but that background ended up being drawn and literally animated in Toonboom by the amazing Allysa.

My prev post has the rest of my finished backgrounds, but I think there were more sketches I made in production quarter that got handed off. I might track those down and post them, but I might start posting my visdev work next. I'll have to see!!

🎉 I had the absolute honor to be a part of the @snubbed_film crew for my senior capstone year. Here I am sharing some of my background artwork, but I have more backgrounds that didn't fit in the horizontal view--so expect more bgs + visdev work soon!

I am so so happy seeing everyone's support for the film. THANK YOU!

This was genuinely one of the best, most fulfilling projects I have ever worked on. I learned so much from my teammates. My directors Jesse and Kian empowered me to have the confidence to go outside of my comfort zone with every crazy perspective and zoom pan shot. Valentina showed me how to stay determined through a tricky layout and gave me amazing guidance and drawovers as layout lead. Tessa and Nicole guided the film and ran the ship through the chaos that is senior year. Momo and Kian's vision for the painting style of the backgrounds let us play with vibrant color and texture. Georgia's plant designs made the jungle of Snub City feel whimsical and full. And working with Kyra and Allysa on making the backgrounds fit the needs of the amazing animators genuinely gave me such a great look into their craft. AND THEYRE ALL AWESOME FRIENDS AND PEOPLE.

I learned and grew so much during this year, and I am so excited for the future. As well as excited to share all the pictures I drew!! :D

Painting Study!!! I'm trying to learn to be more experimental and creative with my colors. I often try to replicate colors exactly like my reference when I'm doing a study but I tried with this one to be a little more out there. Definitely stuff about the form and proportions I'd improve next time, but for a quick little painting I did at the end of the day yesterday I think it turned out nice.

Just got my learners permit yesterday. On my way to being an adult who can drive. :)

A graduation post from Kyle at last!!! This May I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation at SCAD!!

I wanted to draw something special for it...and I thought what better to reference then one of my most fundamental medias: Ocarina of Time!

The next slides show just a few of the myriad of pictures taken throughout what I consider to be the best, most creatively fulfilling year of my life. I learned and grew so much from the amazing people that I have met at SCAD. Crispin and Marlowe my most beloved friends of four years, every Turbo-tastic superstar on SNUBBED, my greatest mentor and the guiding star of our film Professor Rachel Schmieg, and every other amazing friend and peer I have met during my time here has inspired me and changed my life for the better. I love you all so much! We WILL be working together again I can promise you all that! I miss you all so much already!

[Also if you got cropped out of a picture im so sorry Instagram really fought me ily]

Oh yeaaaa DnD oc...this is Arlotto! He comes from a long line of jesters and was kind of a big deal until his King made him perform in the rain and he got zapped by lightning. Got sorcerer powers though! Cue the midlife crisis and career pivot to adventurer. He's bad at it but at least he's funny and beautiful. Right? Tell him he's funny or he's gonna flip out.

Looove a character with a goofy backstory.

Slide 4 has Crispin and Kes's ocs they're very very cool.

Oh plus another guy...someone from Arlotto's past maybe? Not sure...we shall find out perhaps, or perhaps not.

Winter break means painting some unicorns!! The last one is from maybe a year ago...yay improvement!

This unicorn comes with a myth for my fantasy project: As she trots across the sky, her mane is the billowing nighttime and her eye is the shining beacon through the dark--which guides sailors, adventurers, and those who have found themselves lost.
