Its been awhile since I've done a formal introduction here. My name is Brooke & I am the one who bakes all these delicious recipes! 😋

I live in the PNW with my husband we've been married for 7 years & we have 2 kids❤ I have type 1 diabetes & eat/bake gluten free!

During my last pregnancy I had really bad gestational diabetes & was insulin resistant. They told me it would go away after I had my baby. So I checked it after birth it was slightly high but nothing concerning. So I just assumed it went away like I was told. 3 months later I was losing a lot of weight, felt sick, & my vision was going blurry. I checked my blood sugar & it read 580. I went to the doctor who couldn't give me a diagnosis because I wasn't testing positive for t1d antibodies. I spent the next 2-3 months eating very little & absolutely no carbs. Finally I had enough of all this. Found an endocrinologist who ran the proper tests. Got officially diagnosed with Type 1 the week the pandemic hit. But I was quickly put on all the right insulin, dexcom , & pump which was life changing! It still took a little bit of work to figure out life with T1D but here I am 💙

The hardest part of having type 1 is explaining how illnesses affect me so differently now! I would say in general I have a good immune system. BUT having to be sick with type 1 is another ball game. When I hear people say it’s just the stomach flu, or cold it may be to them. But for me it’s possible DKA with hospital visit. It’s 24-7 monitoring those stubborn highs or lows that come with an illness. Type 1 makes everything so much more complex! by @carb.filled.diabetic

Not medical advice just my personal experience. If I add in a very small amount of Tresiba I actually stay stable all night and don’t spike in the morning! by @carb.filled.diabetic
