It was time to go wide to accommodate some tires with some serious girth. This new Carbon Werx gravel rim has a 32mm internal and a 38mm external and plays nice with any tire north of 40mm and up to the 50’s. One climb. Monte Grappa. 1,775 metres above sea level. One bike. A Fissa fixed gear, running a 52×18. What else ? Just soaking in the views at the gateway to the Dolomites from the top… and treating yourself to a gelato in Bassano once it’s all over. Matthieu set himself the challenge of climbing Monte Grappa on a fixie, without changing the gear ratio. He made it look pretty easy… So… what’s the next challenge ? -🇫🇷- Un col. Monte Grappa, 1 775 mètres d’altitude. Un vélo. Un fixie Fissa monté en 52×18. What else ? Profiter de la vue aux portes des Dolomites une fois au sommet… puis savourer une bonne glace à Bassano pour fêter ça. Matt D is one of the founders and owners of Massacan, which is a lovely bike shop in Nice. They are in fact just steps away from my apartment in Port Lympia. These Carbon Werx wheels will soon be on Matt’s fixie machine. In my minds eye I can see him flying up the Moyenne Corniche on his way to Eze for a quick burger and tearing back down the hill to the shop. These wheels will be used! A lot! A killer set of road wheels destined for the lovely roads of Nice in the Côte d’Azur. This set of wheels were ordered from the folks @rifugio_massacan in Nice. They have a fantastic bike shop just north of our apartment in Port Lympia. These are truly exceptional wheels with our brand new 52mm deep 1K filament wound rim that weighs a mere 365 grams and sports in-molded spoke holes and a proprietary mix of T800 & T1100 carbon fibre. Ultra light and super strong. These rims were laced to DT Swiss 180 hubs with SINC Ceramic bearings. Sapim CX Ray bladed spokes and Alpina ABS black brass nipples. The pair weighed in at 1310 grams.
