POSTS STORIES REELS

1975 Topps Thurman Munson/Jughead 185, October 1970

I’m a lifelong comics fan (born in ‘80) trying to keep up with my monthly books while also trying to enjoy my many short boxes full of back issues. I’ve also recently gotten back into cards (mostly vintage baseball and hockey). And coffee makes everything better, so I’m including that as well ☕️ I hope you see some cool stuff as I share my collecting journey. Take care of yourself and others, and enjoy your day!

1986 Topps Jody Davis / Daredevil 227, February 1986

Good morning! ☕️ It’s a #timemachinemonday as we’re traveling back to 1986, when Jody Davis was strapping on the catcher’s gear for the Cubs, Frank Miller and David Mazzuccheli’s seminal Born Again storyline started with issue 227 of Daredevil, and The Descendents cheered up their fans by releasing their classic album Enjoy! 🎶

The first memory I have of opening a pack of cards is when I was 6 years old in 1986. My cool, older cousin (being in high school made him cool by default in my eyes) was with me as I was opening a pack of ‘86 Topps we just got from the 7-11 down the block. I remember him being excited when I got this Jody Davis card (unfortunately I had to re-buy this copy 😢). My cool, older cousin telling me that this was a good player immediately made me a lifelong fan (of course 😆), and the fact that I thought Jody Davis was a fun name and that he looked awesome on this card only cemented the fandom in my head. Come to think of it, maybe this is why I gravitate towards catchers (like Munson)? 🤔 I apologize as I usually like to keep these posts short and sweet, but thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, and I hope this conjures some great memories of your own over some coffee this Monday! ☕️

1978 Topps Johnny Wockenfuss 🐅 / Pep 343, November 1978 🌭

Good morning! ☕️ Taking the Delorean out for a spin and going back to 1978 on a #wockenfusswednesday , when versatile fan favorite Johnny Wockenfuss played more in the outfield than behind the plate for the first time, Archie ran into some money problems at the hot dog stand, and Toto was holding the line! 📻🎶

Enjoy your Wednesday! ☕️

1987 Topps William “The Refrigerator” Perry 🐻 / Betty and Me 163, December 1987 📼

Good morning! ☕️ On a Bears victory Tuesday we’re looking back to 1987, when “The Fridge” was still DT for the Bears (and you could still send in your proof-of-purchase coupon to order his G.I. Joe action figure from Hasbro), it was movie night in Riverdale 🍿, and the Descendents released their fourth album, the classic “All”! 🎶

Hope you have a great day and are able to enjoy some beautiful fall weather! 🍁🍂🗳️

1978 Hostess All-Star Team Thurman Munson 🧁/ Marvel Team-Up 74, October 1978 🕸️

Good morning! ☕️ It’s a Saturday in 1978 again, when Thurman Munson was waiting to be cut out of a box of Twinkies, and The Silver Samurai interrupted Saturday Night Live to find a special ring that was accidentally sent to John Belushi! 📺Luckily Peter Parker was bringing MJ for a date to the taping, so your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man was able to lend a helping hand! 🕷️

I hope this Saturday morning finds you well - have a great weekend! ☕️

1980 Topps Gary Carter 🇨🇦 / Betty and Me 102, May 1979 🗞️

Good morning! ☕️ Back to the late 70’s/early 80’s this morning! I was a little upside down on this one as I originally thought this issue of Betty and Me was from ‘80 instead of ‘79, but after seeing how Betty’s throw worked with Gary Carter’s catch, I just rolled with it even though the dates didn’t exactly match up 😩 And I needed some Gary Carter, Riverdale, and Diana Ross 🎶 (Upside Down released in ‘80 - just a few days after I was born!) in my life to bring me a little joy after that horrendous Cub’s game 🫠

Hope you all have an amazing day!

1983 Topps Mike Singletary 🐻 / G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, February 1983

Good morning! ☕️ Welcome back to 1983, when Samurai Mike was the heart and soul of the Bear’s defense ❤️, Codename: Sea-Strike was on the stands at your local 7-11 (or whatever convenient store was local to you), and Huey Lewis and the News released their hit album Sports! 🎱

I even had a mug from ‘83 for today and physical copies of today’s music! 🎶 Hope things are coming together for you today as well - enjoy your day!

1991 Fleer Ultra Ken Griffey Jr. / X-Force 1, August 1991 ❌

Good morning! ☕️ Let’s turn back the clock ⏰ to 1991, when The Kid and his sweet swing was still in Seattle, Rob Liefeld’s polybagged first issue of X-Force was flying off the comic racks, and Nirvana’s Nevermind ushered in a new era of music! 🎶

I hope you’re day is as great as an average day in 1991!

Good morning! ☕️ It’s 1983 on another #throwbackthursday , when Ken Griffey was donning Yankee pinstripes, Vigilante made his first appearance in this New Teen Titans annual 🥽 and Joe Jackson’s Steppin’ Out was a radio staple! 📻🎶

Hope you enjoy the day and that your coffee is doing its job! ☕️

1958 Topps Vada Pinson / Jughead 49, August 1958 🎙️

Good morning! ☕️ Let’s take a look back at 1958 for a moment on this #throwbackthursday when Vada Pinson flashed this contagious smile for the Topps camera 📸, Archie’s Rock ‘N’ Rollers took center stage on the newsstand with this issue of Jughead 🎸🥁, and Duane Eddy released the twangy classic Rebel Rouser! 🎶

Hope you have an amazing day!
