Watch the artistry behind one of Care Studios’ hand-beaded birds come to life.

In this video, our South African-based bead artisans, The @Afrika_47 Collective, share the process of creating a Crested Barbet, from shaping the wire frame to carefully applying the glass beads and finishing the intricate details by hand.

Featured artisans include Panghanai Phiri, Kennedy Mwashusha, Livingstone Dombodzvuku, and Telmore Masangudza, whose skills in traditional wire and beadwork are brought together in this beautiful handcrafted piece.

Each Care Studios creation celebrates African craftsmanship while helping support meaningful opportunities for artisans and communities through our work with DTCare.
