#back i’ve been reflecting a ton on my upbringing in this state. why my younger self lingers… and why she really won’t ever go away. it plagues my mind everyday - thinking about my CCSD classmates and wondering who was thinking about us 20 years ago? i’m realizing that - as i dreadfully watch the active decline of our public education system and continuous standstill of establishment power - it is those children still watching. those then and now. since the age of 3, nv has given me a clear vision on how within deep inequity co-exists deep solidarity. a vision i think the whole world must know. my dearest community, my north star - you deserve more. our locals deserve better! may we all continue to believe we can have it. and act till it’s done. sometimes being free means choosing not to go, but to stay… to come home. this 702 is etched in my soul - written in my heart and on my back. there is nothing that could keep me away from you las vegas, not even heaven. by @carenyaps
10 years and 10 (likely more) doctors later, i finally received the life changing surgical procedure to diagnose and help treat the condition i always knew i had - endometriosis. i have spent endless days of the same virtuous cycle. of missing work, of sobbing in grocery stores, of being wheel chaired out of school, of showing up to meetings after a trip to the ER, of hiding in bathrooms to console the inescapable, chronic pain in my abdomen, in my back, and my head. nausea and mood swings and heavy clotting and irregular flow and exhaustion. losing consciousness and taking over 800mg of ibuprofen every few hours to feel some form of relief from this invisible illness. and countless doctors appointments filled with dismissal, delay, and doubt of the pain. i have felt trapped in my own body for so long, and now, i can begin again. free. it has taken so long to reach this point. i feel overwhelmingly lucky and grateful to have had this procedure. and to have been taken care of by the best doctor and four wonderful pilipino nurses. from batangas to saudi, maria, angelo, teresa, and josephine were my saving grace. & my sweet loved ones, especially my dear A, for the care outside the operating room. i have no doubt in my mind, this diagnosis and care was a privilege, and that is the true pain. every woman i have witnessed platform their endo experience empowered my motivation to seek better healthcare for myself. 1 in 10 of all women struggle with endo. it takes 7-10 years on average to receive an accurate diagnosis. although surgical treatment to sway symptoms is available, there is no cure. for those with similar experiences, especially women of color, i see you. i believe you. stay vigilant in your journey of relief, the system will dismiss you but you must not do so for yourself. i know that all too well. you deserve to have real answers. it is up to this healthcare system to be better for all women, no matter where they live, what they make, or what they look like. believe women’s pain. believe women of color. and healthcare is a human fucking right! 🌻💛💛 by @carenyaps

UPDATE: Assembly Bill 5 has died in the State Senate in the 2025 Nevada Legislative Special Session thanks to the grassroots organizing of so many. THANK YOU!! Lights, Camera, Take Action NOW! The largest corporate handout in the state of Nevada’s history, totaling over $1.4 billion, is in talks to be passed this Special Session. As the state is set to lose millions in coming years due to federal budget cuts, tying up public money in a studio deal is not the solution. Email the bill sponsors, sign the petitions, share widely, and say NO to the Hollywood Handout. Linktree in Bio for all Relevant Links! by @carenyaps
🏡 NEVADA RENTERS, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU! Starting tomorrow, October 1st, AB 121 will take into effect as an approach to rid of hidden and/or predatory junk fees for renters in Nevada. My first home in Nevada was an apartment for my immigrant family of 4 (as pictured purrr). Vulnerable and subject to hidden, outrageous fees, this bill hopes to address equity, especially among low-income and immigrant renters.💰 For more Nevada news, events, and more, join the NV Notifs channel in my bio <3 by @carenyaps

EDIT: This amendment was successfully removed thanks to community advocacy. <3 🏜️PUBLIC LANDS DON’T HAVE A PRICE TAG! Passionate about nature and public recreation, as well as protecting rural communities? How about ensuring that urban cities like Las Vegas get the proper infrastructure we deserve? There is a new amendment (after being struck down in the US House) to the Senate Reconciliation Bill, or “One Big Beautiful Bill”, that would authorize the sale large areas of public lands in several Western states, especially Nevada. The Senate is expected to finalize its version of the bill by early July. 📞TO NEVADANS & FRIENDS ACROSS THE US, please take two minutes and call BOTH your US Senators at 855-980-5638! by @carenyaps
