Mazda lent us the 2026 MX-5 Miata Club for a week, and it made a strong case for keeping things simple. Snowflake White Pearl paint, blacked-out BBS forged wheels, and red Brembo calipers give it a sharp look. Its manual soft top drops in about three seconds. Inside, heated Recaro seats, Alcantara trim, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make a small cabin feel special. Storage is understandably tight.

Behind the wheel, a 6-speed manual and 181-horsepower 4-cylinder make every drive engaging, while EPA estimates of 29 mpg combined keep fuel costs low. Quick steering and well-placed pedals make winding lake roads the highlight. Wind noise with the top up is the main tradeoff, though the roof will stay down anyway. As tested, it comes to $40,810. Mercedes-AMG has revealed the 2028 Mercedes-AMG GT SUV, its first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house. Three versions arrive at US dealerships in summer 2027: GT53, GT55, and GT63. Range-topping GT63 models make up to 1,153 horsepower from three electric motors and reach 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, while the GT55 also uses three motors and the GT53 makes do with two motors, plus a two-speed rear transmission for the highway.

Charging peaks at 710 kilowatts on the GT55 and GT63, which Mercedes says adds up to 280 miles of WLTP range in 10 minutes. Active Ride Control+ suspension skips traditional anti-roll bars, and AMGForce Sport+ pipes in simulated V-8 sounds for drama. Cargo space reaches 21.4 cubic feet behind the rear seats plus a 2.8-cubic-foot frunk. Pricing and EPA range are still unannounced, which is the part worth waiting for. by @carfanatics

Porsche’s Mission S concept is a mid-engined supercar meant to launch an all-new super sports car platform, one that could sit above the 911. Styling pulls from a strong shortlist: the 911, 959, 917, and GT1, with “Floating Volumes” bodywork, a GT1-inspired “car-in-car” rear around the engine, an active rear wing, fan-like cooling inspired by the 917, and 928-inspired wheels. Porsche isn’t saying what powers it, only that it won’t be electric.

Inside, five round analog dials sit ahead of the driver, with screens layered behind them for a 3D effect. Early Porsches like the 356 and 550 Spyder shaped the cabin. Real buttons and new push-pull controls run the show, and there’s no center touchscreen or passenger display. Your phone fills in on a retractable MagSafe holder. Nearly nine years after the first prototype, Tesla has revealed its next-generation Roadster, and the promises are wild. Tesla claims 0-60 mph in under 1.0 second, a fan underneath that sucks the car to the pavement for up to 2 g of cornering grip, and thrusters from SpaceX. It’s supposed to corner hard enough to look like it’s breaking physics. Tesla also says, with a straight face, it can literally fly.

While the rest of the lineup moves toward self-driving, Elon Musk says the Roadster will long-term be Tesla’s only human-driven car, built for drivers and meant to go beyond the limits. He also says it’ll crush every track record that has ever existed. Bold claims cost nothing, and a stopwatch will settle them. Production is scheduled for 2028, so there’s plenty of time to see which of these promises survive. by @carfanatics

Alfa Romeo brought a gorgeous GT concept to the 2026 Paris Motor Show, and it has four doors, four seats, and a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6. Called the Cuorerosso, it’s about the size of a Tesla Model 3, with enough rear headroom for two adults. Alfa calls it a multi-energy manifesto, so hybrid and fully electric versions are on the table.

Designers shaped the body before adding wheels or a grille. Glass sits flush, there’s no gloss black trim, and the rear hips nod to the Alfa 33 Stradale. Its drag coefficient is 0.28. Inside, physical controls join a patented driver display that changes with each drive mode. It likely won’t reach production, but its ideas will shape future Alfa models. by @carfanatics

Chevrolet lent us the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV LT 2 for a week, and it made a quiet but convincing case for being ordinary. No dramatic styling, no wild acceleration, just a clean crossover shape with a white roof, a 17.7-inch touchscreen, and real knobs for volume and temperature. Our front-wheel-drive test car came to $50,745 as tested, with Super Cruise, ventilated seats, and 21-inch wheels along for the ride.

Range is where it shines. Officially rated at 319 miles, it averaged more than 300 miles per charge in our testing, close enough to trust the number. Ride comfort stays calm even on those big wheels, Super Cruise makes long highway stretches easy, and one-pedal driving smooths out traffic. Touchscreen-only headlights are an odd call, and cargo space trails gas rivals. Still, ordinary rarely looks this practical in an EV. by @carfanatics

Chevrolet’s smallest EV is back, and it learned some things while it was gone. Chevrolet lent us a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt RS for a week, and ours came to $38,940 as tested in Habanero Orange. Slim LED lighting and gloss black trim sharpen the familiar shape, while clever storage and a roomy back seat keep the cabin practical.

Around town, it scoots away quietly, turns tight, and one-pedal driving makes traffic far less tiring. Highway rides feel a bit busy, but fast charging and a standard NACS port with Supercharger access take the stress out of road trips. With a 262-mile EPA estimate and a price well under the average new car, it is hard to argue with. by @carfanatics

Ford lent us the 2026 Ford Expedition MAX Platinum 4x4 for a week, and at $106,900 as tested, it has a lot to prove. Under the hood sits a 3.5-liter High Output EcoBoost V-6 rated at 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. It pulls this SUV with ease, sounds burly, and pairs with a 10-speed automatic that never seems confused. Adaptive dampers keep the highway ride relaxed and quiet.

Inside, a 24-inch panoramic display stretches across the dash, the front seats massage, and a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen system fills the cabin. Its third row has solid thigh support, and the split tailgate makes loading groceries easy. Fuel economy lands at 18 mpg combined. Ford skipped wireless charging and rear sunshades, and the black roof costs $7,550, which is a lot for paint. Still, the ride stays wonderfully calm. by @carfanatics
