By no means are these photos "technically" perfect. I woke up to this red fox behind our house. I only had my 70-200mm on me - not my 400mm - so I ran outside with the shorter focal distance. Because of that, I had to crop them heavily and there aren't as many details as I would've liked. HOWEVER, I love them!!! Not every photo has to be perfect! As long as you are enjoying yourself - that is enough. So, that being said, enjoy this beautiful little fox stretching in the morning light... and then scampering away when he saw me 🤣 literally the cutest little guy

I took this photo on a wildlife cruise a few weeks ago here in Southeast Alaska. Despite our presence on a decent sized boat, this juvenile bear - probably just broken off from his mother, around 2-3 years old - decided to wade into the water in pursuit of a salmon. Definitely inexperienced, he wandered around for a while in the shade, fumbling through a few failed attempts. After some time, he finally approached the only visible patch of light, and his silhouette lit up from behind as he emerged from the shadows. It truly felt magical 🫶

P.S. In the end, he was able to finally catch one!! (Even if it was basically dead when he found it. I'll still give him points for it)

This was a DREAM photo for me. The lighting, the angle, the glassiness of the water. I am so beyond proud of this photo and I hope you love it as much as I do :)

Hey! I'm Alexis :) I figured I should introduce myself on here... I'm a photographer, but I'm also a lot of other things! So here's a little bit about me, featuring a photo carousel with some backstories for each 🥳

1. Me with my camera!! I've been taking photos for over 10 years, and specialize in landscapes and wildlife. It is the biggest passion in my life and I am quite literally obsessed with it.
2. Me working in Alaska as a naturalist kayak guide. The job that made me realize I wanted to continue working in nature & around wildlife. Absolutely changed my life, and the people I came to know are some I will never forget.
3. My rabbit, Fig 🫶 she's the CUTEST. And so sweet. She jumps up on my bed every morning to wake me up. Sometimes at 5 am, which isn't as cute.
4. Bottom half of a broken otter skull that I found. Sooo cool. I love collecting bones and rocks and little things from nature!
5. Me snowboarding. My parents put me on skies at 4, and at 12 I switched to snowboarding and never went back 🏂
6. Making progress on a rock climbing project! I've been climbing in gyms on and off since 2018. I love bouldering and want to start doing some outdoor climbing!
7. Me as a small child with a frog I caught. Very on brand.
8. Transporting a snapping turtle who was trying to cross a walking path. He was NOT happy. Felt like Steve Irwin.
9. When I hiked a volcano! One of the coolest hikes I've ever done.
10. Doing some measuring in my van. I've been converting it for a while on and off. Hoping to finish it up soon so I can finally start traveling in it!
11. I have a degree in Illustration. I went to college in Connecticut and halfway through started a clothing brand that I continued on and off for 4 years. Before shutting it down, I surpassed 100K in total revenue. One of my proudest accomplishments :)

If you got alllllll the way to the bottom, thanks for reading :) I hope you'll stick around! ❤️ by @cariddiphoto

Normally I wouldn't post an image with the subject so concealed, but I just love the mystery this one has to it, with this bear's strong gaze peaking through the gap in vegetation. This is Big Boy Bruno (triple B!!!) AKA Grizzly 679, weaving through the geraniums. This old guy is about 22 years old! I saw him for the first time just the other day as he grazed in an alpine meadow. Boyyyy does he have a powerful energy - this bear has SEEN some things.

I came across this BEAUTIFUL coyote in Yellowstone - its coat was soaked from the rain which created such an incredible texture visually. I also found the jagged branches sticking up behind it really interesting - it reminds me of that scene from the lion king where nala and simba explore the elephant graveyard and all the rib bones are towering over them!! This little fella only hungout here for a few seconds before continuing on its way - Coyotes can be quite difficult to photograph since they're constantly on the move, and I feel so lucky I was able to capture this moment :)

This is by far the best moose encounter I've had since moving to the tetons 🥳 I was genuinely GIDDY watching these little moose siblings prance around as their Mom stood watchful nearby, eating willow and other shrubs, occasionally nuzzling them with her nose. These two are no more than 2 weeks old, and they'll stay with their mom for about a year until she gives birth to her next calf. After that, they'll be on their own for the first time, learning to navigate the world and find their place in it.

These are my favorite shots I've gotten in Grand Teton & Yellowstone so far :) Which one is your favorite???

All completely wild, un-baited, and taken from a safe distance with my telephoto lens! The result of hundreds of hours of searching and observation. The things I've seen here in only 2 months... I can't wait to see what else is in store for the rest of the season!!

Most of these are available as prints on my website which you can access in my bio & some will DEFINITELY be included in my 2027 wildlife calendar... so keep your eyes peeled as we get closer to the end of the year :)

This little one has officially been relocated!! Previously known as "Solo", now collared and tagged with the number 1199, she'll no longer be a bear we see in Grand Teton National Park. Though I'll miss seeing her goofy face (somethin about it is just so silly) this is undoubtedly the best outcome for her. She was way too comfortable around people and would regularly hangout in campgrounds, despite the park's best efforts to haze her out. For the safety of visitors as well as the bear, relocation was the only option - and I'm so glad she will have the chance to live a healthy & wild life the way she was meant to :)

I can't even put into words how PRECIOUS it was to watch this mama elk clean her baby, and to see the bond they have with each other!! They were only about 60 feet off the road and seemed pretty comfortable, until a very loud and concerning-sounding engine rolled by, which spooked them and they quickly retreated farther back into the woods.

Fun fact... Elk calves are born with NO scent for the first 2 weeks of their lives. This is a survival mechanism - their best chance of making it out alive is near-abandonment from their mother (aside from returning to nurse). She'll hide them in willows and other dense shrubs, out of sight. It works incredibly well, but some predators have definitely caught on 👀 It's not uncommon to see bears pacing around large sections of willow, weaving between them and swatting them in the hopes they'll scare an elk calf into revealing itself for a tasty snack. I'm very glad that this elk calf made it through its first two weeks, and hope it continues to thrive for years to come :)

Hold down on the 3 dots and scroll for the CUTEST slideshow 🥹❤️🫎 and a video of them prancing at the end!!! Prints available at the link in my bio :)

I was lucky enough to capture this incredible series of shots while out guiding yesterday morning! When I led my guests toward the river to look for moose, I did NOT expect this mama moose and her 2 calves to be so close, or to put on such a show!!! I feel so lucky to have witnessed this. These two were having the time of their lives - not running from anything, but frolicking purely for the joy of it. I think we could all use a reminder of that :)

Image 1: Stoic. Poised. Powerful.
Image 2: "dude stop licking my butt"

Took some photos of this beautiful male bighorn and some of them were... not so graceful 🤣 But look how pretty he is!! Did you know you can actually age a bighorn sheep based on how many rings its horns have? Just like a tree!
