Current I: Anarchic Animism + Machinic Metabolism

To mark the unfolding of CURRENT I, we will celebrate the release of our in-house magazine 13 REASONS (published by Wolke Verlag). This experimental, print-only publication appears twice a year and creates a third space for ideas connected to the Lothringer 13 Halle program. 13 REASONS offers a platform for our collaborators and accomplices to share their creative processes through print. The first issue ANARCHIC ANIMISM + MACHINIC METABOLISM captures the evolving dynamics of CURRENT I (May - December 2025), serving as an active threshold between artistic research, project development, and future explorations beyond the program.

Zum Auftakt von CURRENT I feiern wir die Veröffentlichung unseres hauseigenen Magazins 13 REASONS (verlegt bei Wolke Verlag). Diese experimentelle, print-only Publikation erscheint zweimal jährlich und schafft einen Third Space für Ideen, die das Programm der Lothringer 13 Halle begleiten. 13 REASONS bietet unseren Kompliz:innen eine Plattform, ihre künstlerischen Prozesse im Medium Print zu reflektieren. Die erste Ausgabe ANARCHIC ANIMISM + MACHINIC METABOLISM fängt die dynamische Entwicklung von CURRENT I (Mai-Dezember 2025) ein und fungiert als aktiver Schwellenraum zwischen künstlerischer Forschung, dynamische Projektentwicklung und zukünftigen Erkundungen über das Programm hinaus. taken in Lothringer 13 Halle by @carinalamboy

‚Und dann das noch…‘

Ich möchte mit arm* auf die Lebensrealität von armutsbetroffenen Menschen aufmerksam machen. Ich selbst bin schon mein ganzes Leben von relativer Armut betroffen und dachte lange Zeit, ich wäre damit alleine. Eine Statistik besagt, dass ein Viertel der 18-25 Jährigen in Deutschland armutsgefährdet ist – das bedeutet, dass wir alle höchstwahrscheinlich mehr armutsbetroffene Menschen kennen, als wir denken. Doch oft bleiben diese unsichtbar, da Armut nicht immer offensichtlich ist. Viele denken, dass Armut erst beginnt, wenn die Grundversorgung nicht mehr gewährleistet ist. Doch die Realität sieht anders aus...

Aus einer Online-Umfrage wurden nervige oder verletztende Sprüche bzw. Fragen gesammelt, die Armutsbetroffenen im Kopf geblieben sind. Jedes Mal fühlt es sich an, als würde man davon attackiert werden. Es werden oft nicht nur die Kompetenzen armutsbetroffener Menschen von Außenstehenden stark in Frage gestellt, sondern sie erfahren auch immer wieder Diskriminierung und müssen sich sozial-darwinistische Sprüche anhören. Jeder weitere Spruch bringt das Fass immer mehr zum Überlaufen bis man nur noch Schwarz sieht.

The best thing that happened to me this year was seeing my brother for the first time in six and a half years…
Afterward, I made a small project out of it because I wasn’t able to process what had just happened. Here are some pages of the project called „ephemeral realities“.
It’s already been nine months, and I hope to reunite with him and the rest of my beautiful family again soon.
