It is yet another Matthew Henson Vlog…

Watch me take one last emotional trip to one of my favorite restaurants in all of Portland, @carinalounge. Find out what I ordered as my last appetizer and dinner, as well as my parting thoughts supporting local restaurants and local businesses. 💙🙏🏻

@carinalounge, thank you so very much for having me these past eight years during my time living in Portland. It might be the end of an era, but the memories and the moments will last forever. Wishing everyone all the best in the next chapter of their adventures. ❤️❤️❤️

Where do I begin…🥲 🚨SAPPY POST (you’ve been warned)⚠️
I owe so much to this place. It has been my “third job” for the last 5 years, allowing me to work as a dancer and artist and pursue my passion projects while still making a decent living. I started in 2020, having lost my previous restaurant job as well as my dance career (temporarily), and well, there’s a lot to be said about a service industry job if you want to stick around for more than a year or two without pulling your hair out. 😂
Carina has seen me through several life changes, relationships, and versions of myself. I can’t overstate how much of a community it has been, both on the employee side and customer side. It’s going to be a huge loss, not only for me but for so many regulars.
To Michael, Peter, and Alex - Thank you for giving me a job and always being genuinely interested and so supportive of my career as a performer. It means the world to me.
This place has meant so much to me.

📍Carina Lounge - Portland, Oregon

Visited an absolute gem for girls night in Portland, Oregon when visiting @kate.lambert509 - Carina Lounge is a go-to spot for Mediterranean inspired small plates, friendly vibes, and stellar cocktail selection. Think cozy leather bar stools, warm reclaimed wood, and a welcoming living‑room feel — the perfect spot to enjoy with friends and family.

We immediately dove into their delicious lineup, featuring:

- Sautéed Mussels swimming in a tomato‑thyme chili cream, served with ciabatta for dipping — savory perfection

- Mushroom & Thyme Pizza: earthy, aromatic, and beautifully balanced with a light layer of cheese. A must for any mushroom lover

- Sopressata Salami & Calabrian Chili Peppers Pizza: spicy, savory, and just the right kick to keep you coming back bite after bite

- Penne Burrata: creamy, dreamy, and comforting. Al dente penne, fresh burrata, and a tomato-basil sauce that tastes like summer in a bowl

Next time you’re in Northwest Portland, swing by @carinalounge — you’ll leave full, happy, and planning your next visit.
